D&D General Weird "DnD Is Dead" Youtube Trend??

Hearing him talk about 'rolling to hit' in a game based on Into the Odd was a real mask-off moment for me. Dude, the rulebook is 44 pages! 44 A5 pages!

D&D General Weird "DnD Is Dead" Youtube Trend??

He recently offered a 'review' of Mausritter, where he got every single rule he mentioned wrong. I sincerely doubt he bothered to read the (40 page!) book, but apparently felt confident enough to offer his review as an 'expert'.

Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

Chalet Brantifax is explicitly in the Shadowfell; other than the book being written by a Vistani there's not much to tie the adventure to Ravenloft - no Vistani even appear in the adventure. I will say, of the Candlekeep adventures I have run, 'A Deep and Creeping Darkness' was easily the best.

Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

Speaking as someone who bought Candlekeep Mysteries because I heard there was a Ravenloft adventure in it, I would push back on this, hard. 'The Book of the Raven' just happens to randomly have wereravens in it. Which two do you think would be good thematic fits?

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

First off, your logic is unassailable: that's clearly Uncle Palpie's hand. That being said, I will point out that - as least as I recall - Strahd and Soth did meet in the period where Soth had been pulled into Ravenloft but before he became a Dark Lord in his own right.

AI/LLMs Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

I dunno man - I'm no artist, and I'd infinitely prefer something drawn by a human to something generated by an LLM. As someone said on here the other day, if you can't be bothered to write it, why should I be bothered to read it?

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

Everything you're saying is true, but it is hilarious to hear it put like that.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

I mean, HPL wrote that story in 1928 - a big steamship was huge and leading technology at the time, and Cthulhu pops and reforms unhurt, but goes back to sleep. Had he written it 20 years later, I imagine we would've seen Cthulhu get winded by being hit with a nuclear weapon.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

By way of agreeing with you, Dan O'Bannon literally described "Alien" as being an inverse Lovecraft story - in HPL, aliens from beyond the stars come to earth, in "Alien" people from earth go beyond the stars and find the horrors where they come from.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Just because it has tentacles doesn't mean it's Lovecraftian.

I think what bothers me - to modify your excellent example - is the implication that if Cthulhu or Godzilla is in Ravenloft, they aren't anywhere else. Ravenloft is supposed to be a trap, after all. edit: I think this really is the crux of it for me. Putting Mythos stuff in Ravenloft? A little...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

I'm pretty ignorant of Thunderbirds as a property, but I can 100% see the "this is what Americans think the British are like" angle.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

It hadn’t occurred to me before, but if you gave someone the writing prompt, “What if the Fox sisters were also Nancy Drew’s in D&D?”, you pretty much get there.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

It wouldn’t surprise me, but I took them as a reference to the real life fox sisters.

That's fair. It occurred to me after posting that you could probably argue Legrasse arresting the entirety of the Louisiana cult could be argued as "directly fighting Cthulhu", if only through his influence. Still, the Alert pulled off an act of desperation after waking Cthulhu essentially on...
