ICV2 numbers from GAMA are interesting

Ok, maybe not Daggerheart, although I thought Cosmere did. Neither are interesting RPGs to me though, so I concede to anybody who knows more. I may have just have seen most of their promotion through D&D-based communities, I guess.

ICV2 numbers from GAMA are interesting

Not that surprising, for me. It’s D20-based games (sometimes with big licences), followed by the usual Vampire, Alien and Cyberpunk game lines.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Is Now OFFICIALLY Called "5.5e"

Well, that supports what I said. I could make the same claim about scores of other games that are playable across editions. They are still new editions though.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Is Now OFFICIALLY Called "5.5e"

It isn’t a big deal, but at least I can now say I was quite a big fan of 5th Edition D&D, but not of 5.5 D&D, and this is why I moved on from D&D….

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Is Now OFFICIALLY Called "5.5e"

It isn't all compatible. There were reams of different rules for Classes, Backgrounds, spells, and the like between editions. You could still use old adventure materials - but that is true of many new rulebook editions anyway. To be blunt, I think the assertion previously made by WotC that this...

Here Are 2026's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

Well, we got it too! You’re a fan, along with all the other fans who voted for it. Don’t need to be so sensitive about criticism, then eh?

Here Are 2026's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

For me, in terms of it’s ‘high concept’, it really doesn’t look that much different to Mörk Borg. And I’ve already got that.

Here Are 2026's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

Well it tells us more about the people voting than it does anything else. This site is still predominantly a D&D fan site, and Deathbringer is a D&D-related OSR game. As I said above, it doesn’t do anything for me, but I’m not within the main demographic of this site, clearly. It also suggests...

Here Are 2026's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

Yes. I am glad you mentioned Pioneer (with Traveller rules) in the video, which I also voted for, but I always felt it would be drowned out by fantasy titles. I think genre has something to do with it, as fantasy novels have traditionally much greater sales than that of sci-fi, but I also think...

Here Are 2026's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

Aiming to introduce it to my group this year. For me, Ars Magica is a game I have participated in but never run before, so it’s definitely a ‘bucket list’ game for me. Worth noting it’s influence on both the design of D&D 3rd Edition (via Jonathon Tweet) and the World of Darkness games (via Mark...

Here Are 2026's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

No interest whatsoever in the Top 3, but glad to see Ars Magica on the list!

It's Time to VOTE for your MOST ANTICIPATED TTRPG of 2026!

It’s actually the new edition's biggest selling point. However, if I am celebrating 40 years, I’d actually like to see some sort of commemorative restoration and re-release of the 1st edition stuff.

It's Time to VOTE for your MOST ANTICIPATED TTRPG of 2026!

Ars Magica Definitive Edition, for me. By some distance, honestly - it is a genuinely classic, all time Hall of Fame RPG and I’ve seen the PDF files of the new book. It is a big one. I also really like Mongoose Traveller, so I’m also interested in Pioneer and Dark Conspiracy. There is a...

Nominate your MOST ANTICIPATED RPG of 2026

If it’s at the printers now (it is), then it will be an early 2026 release!

Nominate your MOST ANTICIPATED RPG of 2026

Pioneer by Mongoose Publishing. Standalone, but based on Traveller rules. If I were to use my other nomination, it would be for Ars Magica - The Definitive Edition but it’s been nominated several times already. I could also mention the DC Heroes and Pendragon 1st edition reprints that were...

Traveller 5e coming from World's Largest RPG in cooperation with Mongoose Publishing

No it doesn’t. They have an entire catalogue from about 40 manuscripts coming in for publication, apparently, an ongoing release schedule throughout 2026 and a 50th Anniversary that is being planned for in 2027 for the regular Traveller game…..in addition to what they are aiming to do for this...

Traveller 5e coming from World's Largest RPG in cooperation with Mongoose Publishing

Technically, Metamorphosis Alpha was the first 'Sci-Fi' game, released by TSR back in 1975. However, the term is loosely defined as it is much more of a 'Science Fantasy' (and later morphed into Gamma World). Traveller is a full-bore science fiction RPG and was released in 1977 (notably just...

Traveller: the iconic science fiction roleplaying game

I think this is true of a lot of aspects of Traveller design - they quietly revolutionised aspects of play through quiet inference rather than explicit fanfares. We always get people suggesting that the game doesn’t have an experience system, when it has always had a system included for...
