D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

Yeah, wasn't calling you a liar? Wasn't really doubting you or Troll Lord, just that the D&D Team is known (as @Parmandur pointed out) to backtrack on this stuff. Looking forward to your kickstarter, good luck.

Huh. This gives me flashbacks to when someone said they had permission to publish a Mystara book... and then they didn't.

With that many Astral Elf enemies, seems to confirm that at least one faction of Astral Elves are antagonists.

Ah, I couldn't disagree more... a setting book should not be a history book. It is a vehicle for you to run games, a location for you to run stories. Does it really matter if the population of Sharn is 100,000 or 1 million? I'd say no... it's supposed to be a big city, and supposed to hit...

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

I will refer to comment #367 which does a better job of explaining why Wildemount IMO is not nearly as engaging a product as something more vague. This below to me is of far more usable quality, when ironically it uses a very similar format (though not content) as Wildemount.

https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/242796/did-william-marston-mandate-that-wonder-woman-be-continuously-published-for-dc-t I guess some companies were crazy enough to sign such contracts though... even if in this case, they did eventually buy WW outright.

    Since I am stealing Mr. Rise Up Comus' great quote, I shall also plug their upcoming book, His Majesty The Worm;

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

I'll tell you why... if I change those details, there is always the risk a Wildemount fan will tell me I'm "running the game" wrong. If I want to create my own NPC for the mayor of this small town, I have to use this specific halfling or else I'm playing "contrary to the author's intent." Bah...

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

I understand that people LOVE gazetteers, and it is very similar to a format used in previous editions that folks are fond for... but my (controversial) opinion is that I think it a complete waste of space. I can't stand how Wildemount goes out of it's way to detail every settlement...

Seems like a confirmation that the secret "Ed Greenwood sold the Realms to WotC under the promise they must print an FR book every year to the end of time," was complete boompf. And of course it is, no company, even an incompetent one, would be crazy enough to sign a contract like that.

D&D 5E (2014) First World: Possibly One of the New D&D setting?

Yeah the most Ed Greenwood-y FR regions are the most friendly for 5E. Others, like Kara-tur, I think are best avoided.

D&D 5E (2014) First World: Possibly One of the New D&D setting?

I do too, but it's never really been "horror" to me. Contrasts starkly in the context of Ravenloft. I mean, Thor-Corps isn't exactly scary (though it is awesome).

D&D 5E (2024) Pure Speculation: Eberron Adventure Revisit in 2024?

Sorry, late to the discussion hear. I'll be honest, my gut says "no." And the primary reason is simply that I think Keith Baker is making plenty of Eberron content on his own. It just feels like a revisit that doesn't need to happen, as KB Presents is quite happy to keep publishing Eberron...

    Favorite AD&D and/or B/X Module Covers

I really like this cover. I'd probably replace the shrimp with something a little more scary though! Although in Elden Ring, these things be NASTY.

D&D 5E (2014) First World: Possibly One of the New D&D setting?

Funny thing to me is that for Ravenloft, the changes seemed to reset to a pre-Core time (which is what, pre-2E?) so actually felt like a return to a very OG Ravenloft in some ways. Which was great to me, as I have zero interest in the Core. Always felt it as a concept was anti-horror and Marvel...

D&D 5E (2014) First World: Possibly One of the New D&D setting?

I don't agree with this at all. I mean, it's true it hasn't been revised much... but I think that is due to 5E hyper-fixating on one of the least problematic regions, and the one with the most "modern" sensibilities... the Sword Coast. Only region to get a setting book, too. There are a lot of...

D&D 5E (2014) First World: Possibly One of the New D&D setting?

I'd say the biggest reasons for why Ravenloft was heavily revised, and Eberron note, is that Eberron was already quite close to modern sensibilities as it's initial iteration was written far more recently than Ravenloft's. I mean, Ravenloft first released in 1984. Eberron in 2004. Significant...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

Yeah, I mean, if the cover is great, awesome! But if it's not fine... no big deal if the book itself is great. And it's not like an incredible cover is going to get me to buy a book everyone thinks is trash.
