Hi all sorry to bother need help i am playing d&d 3e Farune. thinking of taking cross class Ranger /wizard need help on advice on race and stats with a 32 point buy system

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but i am about to play D&D for the 1st time. Its d&d 3e playing in Farun i want to make a Wizard/ranger looking for advice on race and buying stats that would be good , I belive its a 30point buy system please let me know thanks :)
