Okay, stupid question time. If I were to take the half dragon template (LA+3) and applied it to create an ECL 6 character, would how many of what hit dice would he have, 3dX from class levels, or 3dX from LA and 3dX from class levels? Thanks for helping me become a little less ignorant :)

I'm playing my first magic user in a 3.5 campaign and was looking at the Alter Self spell. In 3.0 you could use it to change features (add wings etc), but in 3.5, it looks like you have to pick an alternate form completely (5hd or less), ie. change into a gargoyle. Am I reading that correctly...

The rules state that they only regenerate when mostly immersed in water. Would you allow them to regenerate when in the rain? If so, how heavy would it have to be raining? Or would you allow them to regenerate, just not as quickly? Or is this stretching the rules too much?
