Had any luck converting 3.x material to 4E?

For those of you who have tried, have you had any luck converting 3.x material to 4E? What has the experience been like? Difficult? Easy?Frustrating? I'm more concerned with setting material or adventures than crunch like, say, a prestige class or alternate magic system but I'm interested in...

[Monte Cook's Dungeon A Day] Anyone try it?

I'm curious about how this site/product is doing. Has anyone here tried it? Link

Pathfinder 1E Tell me about the Pathfinder setting

I know a little bit having scanned the first couple issues of Pathfinder a year or so ago. Now I'm curious about the finished product. I know it's 3.5. I'm more interested in the details of the setting itself. How big is it? What races are present? Any new ones? What about classes and...

    D&D needs to grow up

Forgive me if this doesn't make a lot of sense. It's more of a stream of thought without a cogent or wellformed thesis. What do I mean when I say D&D needs to grow up? I'm not talking about the rules. I'm referring to the artwork, fiction and the feel of the game. The game needs to drop the...

Are you buying the rule books separately or as a gift set?

At least at Amazon it's cheaper to buy the gift set $62.97 vs. $69.21. You also get a slick slipcase as well. Perhaps if you were only planning to play as a PC I could see why the only buying the PHB would be a good deal. If you plan to GM in the future it's a no brainer.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder - confused about all the products

Can anyone explain how one should approach all the different Pathfinder products Paizo is publishing? I canceled my subscription around the time Chapter 2 of the first AP was released and now I see that much has happened since and the list of product to be released is, frankly, mind boggling...

    Do you buy D&D Minis?

If so, do you use them when playing the RPG or are they only for use with the miniatures game? Do you like their integration into the game even if they are not strictly required? I think they are too costly so I ignore them completely. I also cringe at the thought of organizing and storing them...

How much money have you spent on 3.x?

Ballpark figure. Do you think the amount is at all related to your acceptance of 4.0? I'm into it well above $1,000+. If I had to guess I'd say it's more like $2,500 or $3,000 but that's just a guess. I'm looking forward to 4th edition and not looking back.

Warlocks or Psions. Which matters more to you?

All this talk about Warlocks made me realize how little I care about this new class. Yes, it's cool and "new" but psions will for ever be more important to me and it bugs me that they always get treated like the red-headed stepchild of the family. Give me psionics first damn it! Which do you...

Are templates a part of 4th edition?

Do we know? I've been trying to keep up on all the news about the new edition but I'm sure I've missed a few things. Has there been mention of this anywhere?

4th Ed. D&D Charater Generation software

Will it really do everything WotC is implying? I have my doubts. Will I really be able to create a dwarven 10th level ranger/ 15th level rogue with all his feats, skills, magic items and equipment and perhaps a template or two (if such things still exist in 4th edition) and have it all calculate...

[Dungeon] Got my copy of the last issue today.

I've only perused it so far and like what I see. What a cover...the paladin is getting owned! I love what Christopher West has done with the Maps of Mystery and the fold out map is spectacular. Thanks Chris. I hope to see your work in the pages of Pathfinder. Also a big, BIG thanks to the rest...

    [Dragon] I just got issue # 358

I'm probably the last to get it and I'm sure it's been discussed to death but I haven't found the thread so forgive me for being late to the party. First thing that struck me: Keifer Sutherland is the voice of Raistlin in the Dragonlance movie. Well cast.

NeoExodus: A House Divided - anyone have it?

If you don't know about NeoExodus you can find out more about it here. I'm thinking about buying it but I'm curious to see if anyone here has it and if so what you think about it. The artwork certainly looks interesting but I know next to nothing of the setting itself. Anyone? Do we know if it...

SW Saga - How is space combat?

I'm wondering now that WotC has a miniatures game devoted to it and Wizkids has cardboard minis that might serve just as well. Did they keep the rules from the RCR (I doubt it) or did they do something else?

Chris Pramas (Green Ronin) on the future of D&D

For those who are interested Chris Pramas, from Green Ronin, did an interview last week on the 2d6 Feet in a Random Direction podcast (episode 16). He has some interesting and insightful things to say about what he thinks might be the future of D&D or at least some of the hurdles facing the...

It's time WotC fill us in on their digital initiative

All this rampant speculation by people (including myself) on this and other message boards is getting a bit ridiculous. I get that this is the internet and such "debate" (for lack of a better word) is normal but I don't see WotC's continued silence as helping them at all. We know almost nothing...

Magic Item Compendium TOC is up

You can find it here. It's actually only half a page long but all the same, it's still useful in telling us what to expect. I suck at min/maxing classes, prestige classes, races and feats but magic items I'm ok at. This is a must buy for me. Now, can anyone tell me if they've included the...

[D&D] What books are you using in your current game?

I'm actually not running a game right now but if I were I'd probably limit it to something like: 3 Core Rulebooks Expanded Psionics Handbook Ptolus If someone were to play a spellcaster then I'd allow the Spell Compendium. I'd also allow the Magic Item Compendium if it were available but it...

What do you think of WotC's new combat encounter or "Delve" format?

If you don't know what I'm talking about then read this as it explains it better than I can. Essentialy encounters in published adventures are now presented in one or two pages that include a map of the site where the encounter takes place. This is supposed to cut down on "frequent references...
