Marvel's next big event: Civil War!

Newsarama: This one's a ways off yet, but nobody does BIG like Millar, and it'll be neat to see McNiven get a chance to really stretch his wings. Anyone out there excited for this?

    Comics on the PSP?

I do a webcomic called Elf-Help that is part of Stan Lee's Sunday Comics at komikwerks.com, and they've just made Elf-Help and the other SLSC available in PSP-friendly format. I'm just about the only male in my age bracket who doesn't play videogames, so I don't have a PSP, but it does look...

    WOTC Setting Search (2002)

Just checking in to see how the settings folks first came up with for the search have progressed. I first joined these forums to talk about the search, and my setting (which, needless to say, didn't win) has formed the basis of several published short stories, including The Dead God's Destiny...

    Science Fiction Comics

Seems like there's something of a mini renaissance, what with Remender's excellent Fear Agent, Casey's Godland, and Niles and Jane's Bad Planet coming up. I also liked Adam Strange and Space Ghost at DC. So, what do people think of what's out there right now, and what else should I be reading?

    [Eberron]What race to play?

Just wondering what people's experiences are with the various new races -- which are easier to play, which are more difficult? Are there one or two you would recommend for a beginner? And, of course, which, in your personal experience, are the most fun? Thanks!

Rules -- when do you break 'em?

For DMs: How hardcore are you about following the rules as written in the various manuals? Also, have you found that, over time, you're less of a stickler and more likely to bend rules (or discard them altogether), or that you've learned to follow the rules even more closely? And for...

Free Comic Book Day (Saturday, May 7th)

If you've been wanting to check out a few comics, walk into most any comic store tomorrow and walk away with free comics! Click here to locate the store nearest you, and to see what's offered. I'm hoping to snag a copy of Image's SciFi anthology, Flight, and maybe Ronin Hood of the 47...

Release the Knot -- Amazing Stories #606

Amazing Stories #606 This is a really great fantasy adventure story by our own takyris. Lines like "The frigid glacial lake whispered softly with waves formed by the icy wind" give Release the Knot a lyrical quality, but it is primarily a sword-fighting tale (in fact, a...

The Case of the Martian Ambassador

A short story in the old pulp mold. Would That It Were foolishly paid me 5 cents a word for it, but you can read it for free: “The Martian Ambassador is dead,” Varantus said. His gold-flecked Venusian eyes closed and his already tiny mouth became a sad, thin line. “How is that...

Magic: The Gathering Novel Open Call

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=books/magic/mtgopencall2004 Any interest in this one? I don't know much about Magic, so I'm not sure I'm qualified to submit a proposal. I'll do a little research and see.

    Straczynski's 'Strange' -- Full Preview

Up now at milehighcomics: JMS has got a strong track-record these days with the Supreme Power series. I think I'll wait to see what the buzz on Strange is before I decide whether or not to pick it up, though.

    Ultimates coming to DVD

Hollywood Reporter: Millar and Hitch are consultants, so I'd say this has some potential :)

    Liefeld Returns to Marvel -- X-Force #1

Free preview here. Same old Liefeld: most of the characters look the same to me, and most of the layouts... reminiscent, somehow ;) I must say I like it, though. I was jus' a youngster when Rob took over New Mutants back in the day, and I'm glad to see him back in the saddle. Huh: I...

    Ultimate X-Men #50 - Free Preview

For the lovers, the haters, and the merely curious: Ultimate X-Men #50. Brian Vaughan and Andy Kubert make a pretty good team, but they haven't really grabbed me yet. Even Millar's run on the book was uneven. Not saying I don't like it, though -- it definitely has its moments.

Dwarven Rage! What do you love about dwarves?

What are the core values/traits of dwarves in your campaign, and what do you do that's different? Dwarves are often the worsts of stereotypes in RPG settings -- so why do they ROCK so much?

Elisha Cuthbert to play Sue Storm in 'FF'

From Lying in the Gutters: Good ol' Kim. I'm actually not all that outraged, though I do wish we could have a mature FF, and leave Reed with his grey temples.

    Elves vs. Vulcans

There are some similarities between Vulcans and elves, and some obvious differences. Are there campaigns out there where the elves are more like their spacefaring cousins (ie. tend toward dispassion, etc, like Elrond in LotR)? Also, what do you find essential about elves in a fantasy setting --...

    Vulcan's Soul #1: Exodus (excerpt)

Check it out: ---- No, Surak's principles were not just intellectual: they were an integral part of his life. And expressed so persuasively it drew a pang from his host. Surak ate no meat, not just because meat was the result of the end of a life, but because it was too wasteful of resources on...

'Loki' gets his own comic -- and it looks great!

Really can't complain about that art. It's a painted, high-fantasy style that really suits the subject-matter. Grand, I say... and free! :)
