    Deep Dive: D&D NEXT Exploration

As for whether or not random encounters are lame, I think what it comes down to here is what kind of game you are running. If you want to run a game that's highly story driven then random encounters are a useless waste of time, but in that situation I would venture to guess that the exploration...

    Deep Dive: D&D NEXT Exploration

I agree. I can think of a few ways to subvert these rules for world-building purposes, particularly by filling a random encounter table completely with a list of landmarks and geographic features, then going through your "map" in advance to flesh it out in a similar manner to how the 2E...

The Future of D&D Seminar - Full Video from PAX East

I'll agree that the rules themselves have a feel to them. I, for one, never did play in any of those "classic" adventures except for Undermountain (with which I had an experience similar to Alphastream's experience with Keep on the Borderlands), yet each incarnation had a different feel to it...

Are there enough PrC's to require all characters to take one?

I think smetzger has the right idea. I don't know how you run your game but you might also try making your players use the mechanics for their skills or feats even if they role-play it out well. You could then reward their role-playing with a bonus to thier check.

    Do poisons stack?

When all else fail, use logic. As an extreme example let's take a look at ammonia. At a concentration of 5 parts per million, it is merely an irritant. At much higher concentrations it becomes deadly, I believe its about 45 ppm for ammonia. Since the cloud of gas from the first golem has not...

    Bwana Teferi Imara

The benefit is cool, but I think that the requirements are not quite steep enough. You might add Skill Focus(jump) or Skill Focus(Tumble) (player's choice). Perhapse even both.

    Sun Blade

My opinion on the subject (and this extends to more than just being able to make Sunblade-esque axes, maces or spears) is that if an enchantment can be placed on object A, it can also be placed on object B. Barring any blatant logical issues (vorpal nunchucks come to mind). I see no reason...

    No alignment

A similar option is to remove "Detect [Alignment]" spells in favor of "Detect [Type/Subtype]" spells such as "Detect Undead" or "Detect Devils". Alternatively, you could introduce an all purpose spell. Such a spell would allow the caster to specify the criteria and may require a scrying check...

    Dueling styles

Very interesting. I've read the martial arts styles in the Oriental Adventures handbook but it never occured to me that the concept could be applied to other forms of combat. Duh! Wow. This opens whole new worlds to me. Excellent.

Which of these two methods would you choose for implementing armor DR rules... ?

The problem with converting armor to DR rather than AC is that it precipitates other changes. For it to work, you then have to adust other rules such as attack rolls and HP. As far as the two rules presented go. I prefer the first as a simple matter of simplicity (when it comes into play)...

    Monster Books vs. Do-It-Yourself Monsters?

I myself have something of a facination with horns, claws, and row after row of big, pointy teeth. As a result, I generally find things I like in monster books. Besides, you never know when monster X that originally didn't make a big impression will fit the bill quite nicely. The major...
