    Humor - OotS #443

The exact wording of the question: "Do I get to cause the death of any of the following: Miko, Miko's stupid horse, Roy, Vaarsuvius, or you?" Comic Nothing there to say it can't be more than one... And maybe it's just me, but do you really think that Elan would consider it a happy ending if his...

Or perhaps the son was the druid, wild shaped into a deer or some such.

    Light-Hearted Science Fiction

Well, I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for... but There and Back Again, by Pat Murphy is a fun little book. It's a retelling of The Hobbit, set in space. (I know, I know... it sounds stupid, but I thought it was fun.)

Where to start with Charles de Lint?

That's a tough one. My favorite is Memory and Dream, with The Little Country and Moonheart: A Romance as close seconds. But I've liked everything of his I've read.

Eric Noah, stay out of this thread. Everybody else, hop on in.

ENWorld is the place I come when I want to hang around with a group that's as weird as I am. Gaming is great, and the stuff you can find here is top-notch, but that's not all there is. It's the place that got me into Buffy and Veronica Mars, and the place where I found some people who mock...

    Suggest a book to me.

Well, most of the people I like (Steven Brust, Terry Pratchett, Roger Zelazny and Elizabeth Moon) have been suggested above. But I haven't seen a mention of Lois McMaster Bujold. The Miles Vorkosigan series (sci-fi) is great, and the Chalion books (The Curse of Chalion and The Paladin of Souls...

    Wayfarer's Redemption

I've read the first three. They were your standard fantasy- not the best, but not the worst I've ever read. There are 6 books in the series: Battleaxe, Enchanter, and Starman are the first three and form one arc (the Axis Trilogy), and I believe the second three (Sinner, Pilgrim, and Crusader)...

You knew this was coming. Who will die in the next Harry Potter book

My money's on the title referring to Hagrid. He's the only obvious halfblood I can think of, other than Harry or Voldemort.

Best novels by your favourite authors?

Lois McMaster Bujold- Civil Campaign is her best, but it's probably not as good without reading the earlier books in the series. Terry Pratchett- I can't pick out a best. Seriously, he just keeps getting better. I usually recommend Small Gods or Guards, Guards though. Small Gods is unconnected...

    Poems that make you shiver

Lots of poems already mentioned. One not mention yet is e.e. cummings' maggie and milly and molly and may. maggie and milly and molly and may. went down to the beach (to play one day) and maggie discovered a shell that sang so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and milly befriended a...

    "Its so big!"

I think it was 8th grade when I started reading The Stand (the unabridged version.) My classmates, who'd become used to my bookwormishness, became impressed all over again. I also got a few looks when, in a different school a few years later, I brought Lucifer's Hammer to read during finals.
