Does anyone know how D&D compares to home grown titles like Goblin Slayer RPG in Japan? I think there's a conflation in some of the posts here between "popularity of D&D" and popularity of RPGs in Japan. RPGs are very popular....but maybe not D&D itself. Call of Cthulhu is incredibly popular...

I ran a short campaign of Genesys when it came out some years ago. The game lasted around 7 sessions when we bailed and moved over to Cypher System, which fit my GM style and my player group better. Also, I am unclear on what is wrong with the Dark Souls TTRPG. I own it and it seems like a rather faithful blending of the video game's aesthetics and world with the 5E ruleset. (EDIT I have not played it, however, so maybe there's something buried in the chassis I haven't seen?)

My wife loves this kind of game and I turned her on to Gallowspire Survivors. I personally can't figure out what is happening at all, I have gotten too old to track all the explody polygons apparently.

The good news here is the last several books (including the Tricorder Edition rules) have been exactly readable black text on white background, so I think they learned that lesson.

I just got my copy of Cypher System's Rust & Redemption- looks good so far, haven't been able to apply it to an actual game yet. I snagged three new books for Vast Grimm. Blood Altared has neat looking capaign, and Space Cruisers and Space Raiders are chock full of useful content for this weird...

Electric State, QuestWorlds and Tales of the Valiant all have my eye. I'd have included Mothership 1E but I have all the PDFs and have only been awaiting the print edition's final delayed release for over a year now, so I felt like some support for other 2024 releases was in order.
