    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

I sometimes also do science fiction images for my Cepheus Engine / Traveller campaign.... "A cinematic shot of two space marines standing in front of an emerald blue crystal tube with several holographic screens and futuristic devices. Inside the glass cylinder is glowing light green liquid...

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

I used terms such as digital painting, concept art, fantasy game concept art, intricate details of fantasy architecture, fantasy landscape, etc. I try to avoid using references to specific artists as much as possible.

D&D General Swords & Wizardry & Mythmere Games & Matt Finch

I don't think it's five-dimensional chess. It's a natural consequence of a rushed decision. It might be intentional or it might not be. But the result is the same.

D&D General Swords & Wizardry & Mythmere Games & Matt Finch

S&W is my favourite retroclone. I'm thinking of crossing it with Bucky the Blackball's Dark Dungeons to provide better high-level support. I heard we might also get a new edition of OSRIC later this year too. It's a great time to support old-school gaming...

D&D General Swords & Wizardry & Mythmere Games & Matt Finch

The AELF licence looks pretty good. But is the current edition of the S&W rulebook covered by it? My copy doesn't have any legal notice indicating what is open content and what is not. It would be great if the various OSR publishers could agree on a common licence, but I suppose we are doomed to...

How do you tell when something is AI art?

The more you know about a subject or medium, the better the AI prompts you can produce. If I am trying to produce a photographic image via AI, I will specify details such as camera type, focal length, shutter speed, film stock, etc. I might go as far as including details like "ALEXA Wide Gamut...

Press [Chaosium] 'Good old Burly Bob' - a basic history of Basic Role-Playing ('Out of the Suitcase' with Chaosium president Rick Meints)

Great news. I'm glad sales have been strong enough to justify further investment. Do you have a rough idea when we will see additional material or is it too early to predict?

Press [Chaosium] 'Good old Burly Bob' - a basic history of Basic Role-Playing ('Out of the Suitcase' with Chaosium president Rick Meints)

Great summary. I still have my copy of the 16-page BRP rules from 1981 in near-pristine condition (unlike my poor copy of Apple Lane - how many times did I run Gringle's Pawnshop and the Rainbow Mounds back in the day...!). What strikes me is how concise the rule system was back then. The...

AI Art Removed From Upcoming Terminator RPG Book

What Kind of Bubble is AI? Cory Doctorow has published a very astute article on AI hype in Locus, comparing it to previous tech bubbles. I agree with his central argument - the large AI models owned by tech giants are not economically viable in the long term. After the inevitable crash, AI is...

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Creative Commons is a solid licence precisely because there is an existing body of case law. But WoTC chose an option without the viral features of the OGL, thereby destroying the possibility of a shared body of open content. The only reason this dream is still alive is due to the generosity of...

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

The last line is the important point. The plan to deauthorise the OGL might be on shaky legal ground, but we'll never get a definitive ruling. To fight it in court costs several million dollars. The US Court System operates on a Pay-to-Play basis. Justice is only available to the wealthy. And...

AI Art Removed From Upcoming Terminator RPG Book

Correct. But I'm pretty sure it involves a contract with an American entity who owns the IP. This may be David Ellison's Skydance Media (who co-own the rights with James Cameron). But it is more likely to be StudioCanal (a French film company who own distribution rights for T1 and T2 through...
