Heroes of Might and Magic is a 2d20 game based on the video games; the Kickstarter ran earlier this year. A quickstart is available here (or here, or here). I haven't checked it out yet, though.

IIRC, the sample characters in Basic 3e were all fantasy characters, so likely not. Maybe for Fast-Draw or Survival? Most other skills requiring specializations are higher tech. We made extensive use of the separate skill list, where which skills requiring specialization was more explicit...

Guns requiring specializations is in the 3e Basic rules; it tells you Guns defaults to "DX-4 or (other Guns skill)-4". And the skill list also says "Guns/TL (type)".

The example there might be from Westerns: knife and tomahawk, maybe?

If "stealth" is the important part of Stealth Archer, you might want to get Skulker, for the Fog of War and Sniper abilities.

I'm baffled by the stone golem completely losing immunity to nonmagical, non-adamantine bludgeoning/slashing/piercing. Downgrade to Resistance I could understand; but letting a few no-account horse archers safely destroy stone golems with longbows and cheap arrows offends my delicate...

That's incorrect; in 3e, skeletons had DR 5/bludgeoning, which means they reduced weapon damage they took by 5, but that bludgeoning damage bypassed that reduction. "DR #/foo" means "reduce damage by #, except from type foo."
