That's good info. I note that it does seem to try and distinguish the ruling on the basis that only the books were being imported and no related paraphernalia. I can see a number of KS fulfillments currently on ships struggling to make the same argument.

This has been my RPG of 2024. I have played it a ton and it’s been a great zero prep RPG experience. Highly recommended though it’s difficult to find, especially all the added content.

Conan IP gets a new RPG about as regularly as most popular IPs do. The last Conan IP went to KS over 10 years ago. In this case, there is also the factor that the previous d20 and 2d20 RPGs are both quite heavy, so there are still people who want to see something less crunchy for Conan...

Wow, the backer pledge averages at $288 :eek: That's impressive to be able to get so much money consistently from so many people. That's almost three times what Avatar Legends averaged per backer, though its offering three times as much product than Avatar Legends did.

Essentials was presented much like 2.5e 3.5e was and had close parallels to it in terms of time scale etc, so it had precedent and most assumed it was a 4.5e. We aren't seeing the same sort of parallels with these 2024 releases, hence the greater confusion as to what they should be called.

I am concerned by the amount of mechanics that are now embedded in Background. I want my PC's history to have an influence on who they are but, it seems like Background will be the most defining part of every starting character.

The existing Mistborn RPG is very well designed. The system is tailored to the IP and how the action played out in the books. It wouldn't be a good basis for a Cosmere wide RPG though and there is no doubt that more RPGers will be familiar with D&D5e, so its a sensible choice if you want break...

Its selling more than 3 times as much product as Avatar Legends, so comparisons are going to be tough. To be honest, I am leery of these massive KS these days with ridiculous number of books from a relatively new publishers for a new system and with fulfilment dates over 2-3 years away.

That's not how (good) KSs works though. If you don't have the system design locked down by the time you come to KS, then fulfilment will likely be significantly delayed. Even KS that have a locked down book can still take 18+ months to produce physical books in the current climate. They have...

As said, it can be. But based on the many past examples, 6 months is unlikely to be sufficient time to do a good job with a 5e version. We are highly likely to get a rushed and superficial reskin only in the timeframe they have given themselves.
