To all the Boy Scouts: What can you do with rope?

hoist, pull, lower (over cliff), climb (up cliff), throw, tie together (in a bunch), tie together (like two things across a distance), hogtie, leash, set traps, or use as a belt. You'll want high ranged attack (for when you're throwing/shooting a grappling hook), you'll want to have trap...

Help, playing a 2.0 for the first time in forever!

Not sure, I will have to ask, but for the moment, I'm assuming no.

Help, playing a 2.0 for the first time in forever!

Help! I used to play 2.0 a long long time ago, but I haven't in a long time. I moved onto 3.0 a long time ago, and 3.5 when it came out. It's been long enough that I really don't remember anything. Is there a quick summary of the differences somewhere? Can someone give me a link to it, or...

The BEST auto-completing PDF character sheet

Frukathka's link didn't work for me. Here's another one just in case. http://www.angelfire.com/rpg2/dnd3e/documents/autosheet.zip

... but not simply by characters of good alignment.

    Ninja kidnapping...

There is a silencing attack special ability, but it seems more toward keeping the spellcaster or bard from speaking for one round than towards attacking silently and kidnapping someone. At least, that's how it was in 3.0, haven't seen any new ninja rules yet. I really like the Sneak and...

    Ninja kidnapping...

I think this is my first question to the whole board, so be kind to me... I'm just curious as to what kind of checks you would think apply to two ninjas kidnapping a member of the party, horror movie style (noone realizes, suddenly you turn around and they are gone). The party is walking...

    AoO

Welcome! I'm not exactly new... I guess just new to posting. One of these days I'll have to ask everyone a question myself.

    Immediate action and Contingency

Isn't raise dead a Cl spell? That was the hardest part of finding a useful long casting time spell, contingency only works for Scr/Wiz spells.

What would happen if the Track feat was removed?

Oh man... I've got to use that, that's awesome.

<>How much evil could good endure before becoming evil?

There should definitely be an alignment change involved, and used for RP. This is a great opportunity for character depth. If the player really envisions the character as NG, then the future of the character will entail him fighting off his darker urges and seeking atonement or forgiveness for...

Would you allow this paladin in your game? (new fiction added 11/11/08)

I agree with everything here, just wanted to chime in on one thing. The whole CONSTANT VIGILANCE thing is to ward against allowing any non-holy elements to enter into their persona. It's harder to be a Paladin of Cedric's type, because you walk so much closer to that line, that you could cross...

    Immediate action and Contingency

Well, these don't have extremely long casting times, but teleport or antimagic field would both be nice to have when you're getting low on hit points or being mind controlled. And in an extreme case, it would be interesting to see contingency cast with Create Undead, with the trigger being your...

cheesy things to do with 2wf

The only thing I can find that kinda refutes this is in the rules for double weapons. They specifically state that "A creature wielding a quarterstaff in one hand can’t use it as a double weapon—only one end of the weapon can be used in any given round." To me that says that you have to have...

    Falling with Wings

I'd definitely say they need a reflex save, depending on how far they have to fall. The shorter the distance, obviously the harder it would be to open wings in time and get some downward thrust. I'm assuming the wings they are using are like harpy wings that need large swoops to maintain flight.

Glamer-flavored illusions, generally and in combat

Well it makes sense (and would make for a damn funny scene) for them to appear as rats walking on their hind legs. So if they wanted to look normal, they'd have to walk on all fours. If they attack, it would probably look like the rat swinging it's claw at the target (or jabbing, or whatever)...

    Pimping the Paladin's Ride

I really have no opinion on the "pimping" angle of this thread. But am I the only one to read this and get the idea to throw a few mares in heat around next time a paladin in my campaign calls in the warhorse? "Alright Ember, it's time to attack those evil sorcerers. In the name of all that...

What traits would your Ultimate Space Opera setting have?

My Ultimate Space Opera would be... Very exploration themed. Many different planets, mostly rural, but which somehow have the knowhow and strength that a poor boy running away from home can stow away on a spaceship to a seedy port somewhere and hire himself off as a mercenary/ship's cook/cabin...

    Chaotic characters acting Lawful?

It's hard to play a lawful character. Not only are you bound by things like oaths and laws, but DM's just love to pick at them. And then, if you ever break character, and commit an act that is unlawful, you take an experience penalty (in most people's campaigns) or if you've committed several...

    Resting in the dungeon

I agree with the 'no resting in the dungeon' crew. If they MUST rest in a dungeon, it should be established that they will be attacked, and they must find a way to sleep 8 hours without major disturbances. New thought from the silence suggestion above... what if the person guarding realizes an...
