    Suggestions for photographing miniatures?

If your FLGS carries older issues of White Dwarf, I'd suggest picking up (or borrowing from a friend) a copy of issue 303 (April 2005). There's one full page of very detailed tips for getting good results photographing miniatures. Granted, $10 is a bit much to pay for a single page, so...

    Allocating skill points for monsters

Hrm... Table 5-4: Skill Points By Monster Type in the Monster Manual (MM) says that animals have (2 + Int modifier, minimum 1) * (HD + 3) skill points, so the dire rat, with 1 HD and 1 Int should have 4 skill points (and a 6 HD dire rat should have 9 skill points - don't forget that everything...

Codex Anathema changed to... Lords of Madness?

I wonder if the name change might have been motivated by a desire to avoid confusing the WotC book with GW's Warhammer 40k Codex series... Just a guess.

    Break Enchantment

Good eye! I hadn't noticed that before. I'm afraid I don't have a solid answer for you, though. I thought that this might be an editing issue left over from the 3e to 3.5e conversion process, but it's written in the same way in the 3e PHB, so that's not the cause. If you're a community...

Touch Attacks & Bracers of Armor

I agree with your GM. The glossary in the PHB (pg. 314) says: "The target's armor bonus, shield bonus, and natural armor bonus... do not apply to AC against a touch attack." The Bracers of Armor description (DMG pg. 250) says: "... granting him an armor bonus of +1 to +8, just as though he...

What is the best "bad" ending you've seen/read? [Spoilers abound]

Ever so slightly OT: The multiple endings for Planescape: Torment and Deus Ex, two of my favorite games. Both have several endings that all make sense based on the characters and stories involved, but none of them are really "happy endings."

    Do turn undead uses stack?

It's not easy to find, but your answer's on page 59 of the Player's Handbook. Near the top of the right side under class features it says: "If the character's paladin level is 4th or higher, her effective turning level is her cleric level plus her paladin level minus 3." Hope that helps.

    An easy wraith question...

Thanks for the reassurance. I appreciate it.

    An easy wraith question...

...More of a clarification, really... The wraith's (MM 257-258) constitution drain ability does not specifically mention that it's a negative energy effect, therefore it's NOT a negative energy effect. Right? Seems pretty clear to me, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't mis-reading...

    XP cost for Item creation

My fault, I should have been more careful in my post. I merely added that page reference as an extra resource for the original poster; I wasn't trying to disagree/argue with any of the other posts. Sorry for the confusion.

    XP cost for Item creation

...And let's not forget about pages 282-288 in the DMG that has a number of tables breaking down the process and costs of creating magic items by spell level.

    XP cost for Item creation

From pages 99-100 in the PHB: So, for example, a scroll of a 1st level spell scribed by a 1st level caster would have a base price of 1 X 1 X 25 = 25gp. The character scribing it would need to pay 12gp 5sp and expend 1XP. Page 88 of the PHB has at least one decent example of the costs...

Good first level or introductory published adventure

I know these are a bit cliched, but I haven't seen anyone else mention them: The Burning Plague (available free on WotC's site) is short but fairly good. Adding a few adventure hooks here and there can make this a good starting point for a new campaign. Gorgoldand's Gauntlet (available a while...

    Second best death scene?

Here's a few I'd nominate (probably full of spoilers, read at your own risk): For emotional impact: Gérard Depardieu's Cyrano in "Cyrano de Bergerac". - I defy anyone to actually watch this film and not feel at least a little bit of a lump in their throat as Cyrano delivers his last dozen or...

That's Dragon #292, the Wilderness issue.
