    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

I do think that the whole need to ‘balance’ magical and non magical classes is a bit overstated too really. Not everyone wants to play a super-powered character. Wasn’t it the case that some poll showed the most popular character Class is still the Champion-style Fighter? I would just prefer the...

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

Not me. I would just prefer if the game stopped escalating the power at all levels generally with every new publication.

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

I’m not certain that D&D is contending with video games as much as people assume. D&D should set it own standards on such things as its own tabletop medium. I guess it depends on how inclusive and generic a fantasy RPG you want to make D&D. Other fantasy RPGs - including alternative forms of...

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

Compared to the number of magic wedding character types, that is a minuscule fraction that don’t use some sort of magic (and it looks like the Assassin will be removed). It isn’t reflective of the type of fantasy we see in fantasy books or even movies. It just feels like fantasy superheroes to me.

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

Thanks. Not really keen on the Psi Knight or the Soul Knife then, but this is the same issue for me as the Eldritch Knight and the Arcane Trickster. That is, I’d have preferred they included more non-magical, non-psychic, and generally non- super-powered archetypes for these traditionally...

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

I’m not sure if I really like the addition of Psi-SubClasses as of yet. Can somebody remind me how psionic powers work in D&D? Are they significantly different from the normal magic systems?

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

Could somebody tally a list of which Classes/Sub-Classes will be included in this book? I mean, it is pretty much central to the sales-pitch I’d have thought.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

I don’t think drivethrurpg sales really amount to more than a fraction of what is made via retail circuits, however.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

RPGs are more expensive than they have been for a while - mostly based on distribution costs - and the transitional period for D&D has slowed things down on top of this. Personally, I have enough RPG books for the most part anyway. Obviously, there is some enjoyment in collecting more stuff but...

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

I am vilifying the fanbase on this thread who chose to personalise the criticism and effectively say ‘the problem is you’ rather than address the criticism. That is ad hominem and it is a good reason why people shouldn’t buy the product.

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

Backwards compatible isn’t a compelling argument. It would barely make any difference if the damage dice were removed - as it hasn’t when they were already removed in the solo play books. The impact of removing them is negligable. It is a poor game design when people in different geographical...

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

I didn’t bring any ‘toys’ to the party. I am merely informing the company that this is a reason why I won’t be buying their game. They have already produced at least one version of the game that ran solely on D20s without recourse to extra propriety dice needing being purchased. It is not a...

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

Well, I am glad you have all convinced yourselves there is no problem. I’m not buying it now - so no problem for me either. (y)

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

Well, it can lose potential customers then. No skin off my nose - I’ll play other games.

Because it is a barrier for gamers to play the game.

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

Well, if you or Modiphius feel they have the power to make that adjustment, rather than simply make adjustments to their own game, then be my guest. Your game answer seems to be blame everything but the game design for the problem it creates.

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

Considering you live in California and I live in New Zealand, where custom dice have to be imported and are more expensive and harder to find accordingly, I'd say that is a safe bet. However, Star Trek Adventures aspires to be an international release. If it is more expensive and harder to play...

No. I do know plenty of people who I game with though.

Modiphius Announces Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition

Well it is a big deal for me and others. It actively is a reason I won’t buy it - which is why it is being said. You’re attitude is dismissive and defensive but this communication isn’t aimed at you. It is aimed at Modiphius - it is their new edition and this is feedback for them. Your comments...
