My impression is that D&D is now a subscription-based game. Although the books will give you a start like the Basic Set, Wizards wants you to subscribe to the rest of the game. No thanks.

That's pretty cool. Kind of odd, though, that they don't have the resources to print more PDFs.

Kinda funny you say that. My library is almost never quiet, what with all the little kids running around. The librarians themselves seem rather chatty, too. :\ Edit: That, and there are activities going on all the time which are rather noisy. Ventriloquists, movies, balloon artists....

What about setting up a roleplaying game at the library? It could be emphasized as an "exploration through literature" if not anything else. What do you guys think?

Not at the moment, no. I'm not really considering going at this point, when I'm still a sophomore in college. Thing is, my friends are way too busy to even consider doing this. And my parents...less than enthusiastic about blowing what should be for college on something as trivial as this.

Please help me out; I'm a little skeptical by now. Are four days of pure, unadulterated gaming worth $1000+ dollars to come down, find a hotel, find food, pay to get in, pay for certain events, pay for some merchandise, etc.? Is Gen Con even accessible to people who don't exactly have money...

Only 150 spam messages? I must have more than that in my Gmail account every day. ;) There's an idea for an adventure...have the PCs encounter a whole bucketload of NPCs, each of which offer an adventure in exchange for some large portion of XP or gold.

I was at work yesterday, bored as a two-by-four. It occurred to me that a simple plot generator might help with new DMs who don't have a clue what they're doing. Given a table of highly generic plot elements, do you think this would be useful? BTW, check your email. ;)

The two combat systems ARE pretty similar. However, GURPS's combat is time-structured, whereas Palladium's has an "anything goes" attitude. Siembieda suggests "hopping" to and from the more dramatic fights going on, making some players feel less important. Like Jurgen said, GURPS should keep...

What does that mean? If Vadania had a +1 BAB as a Druid and decided to go for another class with +3 at first level, would that give her a +4 BAB at second level?
