OK GenCOn ENWorlders, document your experiences here...

My wife and I had a very nice con experience overall - this was the 11th one we've been to in a row, and I'd rank it highly. Highlights: - Happy, happy gamers everywhere. Most of them relatively funk-less - Nothing revolutionary product-wise, but I love DM tools - magnetic chips, weirdo dice...

Character Points I - Physical Description

Very nice article - sure there are sources with similar material, but it was well written and could help get people's imagination going if they're stuck during character creation. Keep them coming!

    Subscribing to D&D Insider

Eagerly. The online tools are interesting to me as my original gaming group has been spread across three continents for the past decade, getting together to play once every couple of years. This delivery model is also ideal for me - for magazine style content I'd much rather have an online...

WOTC ad - insulting to gamers?

Didn't offend me one bit. I thought it was rather amusing, and a bit creative as well. At least they tried something other than the lame "heroes wanted" type ad...

Do you only buy OGC content?

Open or not open in no way influences my buying decisions.

    R&R: Excalibur, Olympus and ???

I was pleasantly surprised by R&R Olympus when I flipped through it at GenCon. I don't have Excalibur yet, but will probably pick it up sometime. I don't expect to base a whole campaign around these kinds of books, but they're great for mining.

20 D&D products in 2004; what did you buy?

I have picked up/will pick up just about everything. I'm not interested in the Map Folios and will probably pass on the Eberron adventure as well unless it looks real interesting when browsing (I'll get Sharn though just to mine for ideas).

Coolest game/product you discovered at Gen Con?

I picked up far too much stuff, but I knew most of the products beforehand. The nicest discovery for me was Bruce Cordell's Hyperconscious, which I knew nothing about. Very nice book, I just wish it was hardcover. I also loved the new WoD/Vampire books, they're very well written and beautifully...

Angelsboi passed away 16 Jun 04 (was: Angelsboi Health Update)

I like Olgar Shiverstone's suggestion a few pages back; would it perhaps be possible to add a more permanent little "memorial area" for Angelsboi and Kaga?

Angelsboi passed away 16 Jun 04 (was: Angelsboi Health Update)

So sad... My thoughts are with his family and friends, most especially Kevin, his S.O. Yet Billy's motorcycle anecdote brings a smile to my face and reminds me what a bright and quirky soul angelsboi was.

    Web-hosting w/ multiple domains?

Could anyone recommend a decent web-hosting company that allows multiple domains (pointing to different content, not merely aliases) per account at a reasonable price? I have a couple of small, low-traffic hobby sites, but my current hosting company will not allow two domains on one account and...

[OT] What is Minneapolis/St. Paul like?

I lived in Minneapolis for about 4 years (1995-1999) and had a pretty good time there. The company I worked for had their HQ in Kansas City and I traveled down there a fair amount, so I can kind of compare the two cities. Back at that time there were some good IT opportunities in the area, but...

WOTC Mall of America Store doesn't sell RPGs

Not a whole lot of card games either at the Bellevue, WA store. There's a short wall of Mage Knight stuff, but the majority of the store is filled with board games, puzzles, and weird party games/entertainment.

WOTC Mall of America Store doesn't sell RPGs

Unfortunately this seems to be happening in other WotC stores as well, even here on their 'home turf'. The store in Bellevue, WA recently relocated to smaller premises, and one of the non-essential product categories that didn't make it over was RPGs. I suppose it is good for the FLGSs, but then...

    [ENNIES] Post Production Notes

Michael, I know from experience (on both sides) how easy it would be for you, the "target", to perceive what they perhaps intended as lighthearted comments as anything but. It's a bad situation to be in, and considering the time and effort you obviously spent on this, I certainly do feel for...

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

The inclusion of 'trains and flying machines' has me feeling lukewarm about this. Sounds a bit like Warcraft, which I'm not a big fan of.

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

Gaming Report has put up some details about the WotC setting search winner: GamingReport Quick highlights: - It is described as having a 'magically industrial edge' - Includes cultures such as gnomes, dwarves, orcs and drow, plus new races called shifters and changelings. No mention of...
