What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

You are over value what the product is worth. You're assuming it hasn't matured, You're a signing far more value to it. And from that you think much of the material, which is a very niche product, we would see much more polish and innovation and professionalism. Your idea is patently false. We...

Frankly overvaluing RPG material seems worse.

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

That’s why I try and factor In more then one purpose for the product I’m picking up. For D&D type products OSR adventures have the biggest bang for my $$$, WoTc ones I wait for a deal- I can repurpose moser then a few they put one, and Paizos APs have the worst value to me- if I want one I wait...

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

yes. Cover price is $29.99, subscribers get free pdf and advanced shipping. You can qualify for pathfinder advantage and get a 15% discount, however you need to have 4 subscriptions. So you have to spend more money to get it down to about $25. Not really worth it in my opinion unless you’re...

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

So it depends. There's two factors I'm looking at. A) How much do I think I'm going to enjoy reading it, knowing I'm probably not going to use it at the table. B) How much use will this have not just for the rule set its made for but other games I run. So for example shadowrun's Final Harvest...

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Depends. Is it a good retail shops or another half ass one I've seen over the years. Does it provide me with reasons to shop there? Reasons to frequent the shop, other then carrying product? Does it bring any value to my interests in the hobby? Because just being a FLGS really doesnt. Once upon...

D&D General What About Those Other D&D Settings?

I have to be honest: given how poor some past products were treated when released, I’d rather Wotc make something new then revisit the old. Unless the products get better

    Level Up (A5E) Dungeon Delver's Guide Questions/Errors

might be me reading it wrong, but Thunder bolt spell is listed as a 4th level spell, but in casting at higher levels it says " for every spell slot above 3rd , the thunder and slashing damage increase by 1d6" Is it a 4th or 3rd level spell? Or is it casting slot level about 4th? Thanks

D&D 5E How will the recent OGL developments affect your D&D spending?

Several third party folks have had major sales or fire sales of their 5th edition books. Been snagging a bunch to put away for later use

D&D General Has the OGL/WotC debacle motivated you to create your own Fantasy Heartbreaker or homebrew?

I haven't been happy with With for a while- honestly I thought many of the last releases for a long while haven't been good for a while. Add several of us had fantasy fatigue for a while.....but third party products had kept us going. But a while we started a new game with some "new" rule set...

    Statement on OGL from WotC

Actually it IS a lot different in businesses. Many corporations make plans years in advance. It doesn’t mean those time tables don’t get moved up or pushed back, but looking around at my work and company I really can buy what your selling here in the business world. We have seen Wotc release...
