What do your parents (currently) think of D&D?

Well, I'm 37 now, but I can weigh in on this subject based on my experiences entering the hobby. I started playing AD&D way back in '85, I was 12. I only saw my old man every other weekend, so he didn't weigh in on the subject of my hobbies much. My mother really didn't care, it was just a...

Are the Retro Clones doing well?

Take this for what its worth, but I put out an advertisement on a popular play by post site that mostly caters to 3.5e and 4e. It was for an OSRIC game, and had six players in less than three days. I'm also in two play by chat games, and three google wave games all retro clones. Not having...

    Internet RPG Play

A little over a year ago my tabletop group disintegrated, you know, everyone going their seperate ways. Being that I'm going on 37, I really didn't have the time or patience to find more players, its a daunting task, so I turned to the internet. I'd always played online, but got more serious...

    Status of D&D Game Table?

Well, a VTT has been what I've been waiting for before I buy into 4E. A well designed tool that will facilitate finding other players would be a killer app for me. I'm almost 40, I don't have time to search FLGS's for new players.

Are the Retro Clones doing well?

The retro clones are doing awesome. Judging from the community behind the games, the visibility, and the number of players I'm running across, I would say the "retro" market is doing better than anyone thought they would. I run across new OSRIC players and games every day, and Swords and...

    Street D&D in San Francisco

I would totally sit down and play. What a cool idea.

    Status of D&D Game Table?

Yeah, I don't plan on "upgrading" to 4E until I have a reason. Right now I don't have one. A virtual tabletop where I could find players to game with 24/7 would certainly be a compelling reason.

    Falling off the 4ed bandwagon

4E is okay. I played it a bit, but I didn't like it more than 3E, and certainly don't like it more than 0E and 1E, my games of choice. I would probably play 4E if WOTC ever made good on the online game table. Thats what I was most excited about, and it seems like 4E was tailored around online...

    The Next Innovation in Gaming

In the near term, I think Google Wave is going to make a big splash with the RPG community. Its still new, but give it six months or so and you'll see an explosion. Eventually I think the next big innovation is going to be a virtual tabletop with support. I know they exist now, but I'm...

    Christmas Purchases

I got a print copy of Osric, Swords and Wizardry Whitebox, and Swords and Wizardry Monsters Reloaded. My family and I were gaming on Christmas day. My daughter played an Elf and the three year old played a Dwarf with a big axe. Had a blast with old school D&D! Osric had some of the best tables...

    First D&D/RPG Experience

I was probably about 9 or 10, around 1984. My friend had every AD&D and OD&D book ever published. It was amazing. He was the dungeon master, there was five of us. Eventually we all decided to DM our own systems, and took turns playing various games. I picked up Palladium ( couldn't afford...

    Goodman Games solicits input

I would say produce two products, 4E and generic. Then we have have downloadable stats. However, skilled DMs should be able to convert the monsters themselves, especially if they are playing OD&D or AD&D. I've been doing on the fly conversions for a while now, us old school DMs are used to it.

    Swords and Wizardry Boxed Set

Its turning into my game of choice, thats for sure. While I still enjoy and play third edition, Swords and Wizardry are certainly my goto game right now. My family LOVES S&W. I'm going to be working on a few one shot adventures to run at my house over the winter, and try to get some of my old...

    In the Army now

Awww. I'm slightly dissappointed, I thought this was a thread about the Pauly Shore movie. I love Pauly Shore. Thanks for serving! Take D&D to the troops, they love a bit of hack n slash.

D&D with my 4 year old daughter

My daughter was killing monsters and taking stuff when she was four, is ten now and she's an Altar Girl, goes to youth group in another church, and owns five bibles. She is one of the most moral people I know, and my crowning achievement in life. We still play D&D at least a couple times a...

D&D with my 4 year old daughter

I'm going to have to try this with my preschooler. Looks like a neat little game. If your kid was a little older you could play OD&D/Swords and Wizardry. Thats the game I play with my kids, age 3 and 9, however the three year old barely grasps the game yet. This may be a better game to get...
