Jason Carl on White Wolf's Return, Mage: The Ascension Plans

Not at all! People can play the trenchcoat katana guy and the facepaint guy all they want. Ignore the Humanity rules. Have huge kung fu gunfights in downtown Vancouver with hand grenades, whatever. If the players keep coming back, more power to them. It's not a values judgment or anything. I...

Jason Carl on White Wolf's Return, Mage: The Ascension Plans

That's fair, and I fully agree. I've also seen lots of WoD chronicles that are pretty much dungeon-crawling D&D campaigns or action/comedy movies with different costumes. It's not the sort of game that I enjoy but I've seen it enough that it doesn't surprise me any more.

Jason Carl on White Wolf's Return, Mage: The Ascension Plans

I see where you're going. I just haven't experienced it uniquely in Wraith as opposed to other RPGs. D&D has the "you're all in a tavern" cliché, for sure. The only real stock reason for a bunch of ghosts to be together is they all haunt the same location. If the players don't have a preference...

Jason Carl on White Wolf's Return, Mage: The Ascension Plans

Wraith 20's Handbook for the Recently Deceased may be exactly what you're looking for. It would've been nice to have it in 1995 or so, but it's been a great resource for me in getting new Wraith players up-to-speed. A new version of the game could use it as a solid model for introductions. That...

Paizo Tells You About the PATHFINDER STRATEGY GUIDE

A little back-of-the-envelope math reveals that Pathfinder doesn't push out nearly the amount of hardcovers that 3E/3.5 did. A quick glance at my own bookshelf reveals ninety-seven 3E/3.5 hardcovers published over approximately eight years and twenty Pathfinder hardcovers published to date. If...

    Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook

5 out of 5 rating for Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook Pathfinder is extremely good at what it does, but it's not every game for every group (nor does it try to be). The Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook is comprehensive. The character creation options are detailed enough to create nearly any...

    Resident Evil DnD

Howdy GalanDur! I did some work for a d20 Modern version of it a few years ago. It's in that nebulous half-finished state that many dropped RPG projects are, but I do recall that I have the STARS team statted out from the first game and at least notes on what several other characters should be...

D&D 5E Old settings coming back?

Count me amongst those who want some Greyhawk... But then again, maybe not. I was glad that there was no 4E Greyhawk after seeing what happened to the Forgotten Realms setting. I've been able to get by with my older Greyhawk material in the Pathfinder era. Still, it'd be nice to get some things...

    Damn 200 D&D Books

Inspired by this thread, I started counting my books a few minutes ago. I stopped counting the second time I lost track. It was over seven hundred then and I had just finished with the official D&D stuff and started moving into the third party publishers. (I hadn't even started on the non-D&D...

Pathfinder 1E Marietta, GA: Pathfinder, possibly other editions or classic World of Darkness

Howdy! I'm new to Marietta and looking for a group. I'm ideally interested in Pathfinder, but I'll consider various editions of D&D. I might also be interested in a game set in the classic World of Darkness (Wraith, Vampire, or Mage), but the group really has to be right for those games...

Pathfinder 1E Post here if you're a PATHFINDER RPG fan!

I'm a Pathfinder fan. Going to start a new campaign in about two weeks and I can't wait!

How would you feel about a setting where humans are the only racial option?

Yeah, there'll be varieties of humans. Here's a brief idea of what I'm talking about: the different nationalities of humans that I've worked up so far.

How would you feel about a setting where humans are the only racial option?

After several months of steady freelance work, I'm taking a bit of time to work on the ol' homebrew again. I keep returning to an issue that I've ran into with D&D settings over the years. In short, I'd like to make a setting where humans were the only race available as a PC option--no elves...

Pathfinder 1E New Group Seeking Players for Pathfinder and other Games - Marietta Ga (Atlanta Area)

Howdy JDragon! I'm going to move to the Atlanta metro area this summer, I won't be there until around June or so. But I'd love to connect with a new group before I get there! I'm in a similar situation as you (mid-thirties, 20+ years experience, prefer Pathfinder). As far as housing, me and my...

    Pathfinder 1E Non-D&D /Pathfinder RPGs

Vampire: the Masquerade Published by White Wolf, currently supported under the Onyx Path imprint. It's a great game, and one of the very few games that I've never gotten tired of at one point or another. Strengths: The game's setting is essentially the "real" world with a few occult...

    Pathfinder 1E Hints welcome

Just a thought... I don't know if I'd count it as a "major" difference, but one of the things I really like about Pathfinder is how the skills are consolidated. For instance, Balance, Jump, and Tumble were all folded into the Acrobatics skill. Hide and Move Silently are now Stealth, Open Lock...

Pathfinder 1E What are some of the ways you have put your GM on the spot, and how did (s)he handle it?

As a GM, I love non-linear thinking, but it tends to drive certain GMs/DMs up the wall. In a Greyhawk game I played in very early 3E, I was playing a wizard with a mostly rogue and bard group that worked for the thieves' guild in the City of Greyhawk. The campaign was essentially our...

How to tell someone not to come back.

Unfortunately, I've been in the situation of dis-inviting several people over the past few years--I've seen everything from terrible hygiene issues to playing WoW on the laptop at the table to blatant/creepy sexual advances. Even in groups where I'm not the GM, I usually get the task because I...
