Hideous Blow does not provoke AoOs. That's clarified in, I think, the CA errata. Eldritch Glaive is still typically better, but that's more to do with power creep than some particular weakness in Hideous Blow. -edit- Nope, not in CA errata, so it's probably not official. I'm pretty sure...

I've been obsessing about this with my buffer bard, too. For your money, the single best item is probably the ring of enduring arcana (C.Mage). It increases your caster level by +4 for the purposes of resisting dispels. It costs 6000g, which is manageable at fairly low level, and it's a flat...

When I add NPCs from a prepared encounter, the HP box doesn't want to show up. (It works fine if I create an NPC from scratch.)

An 'ongoing damage' condition would be nice, though the need to identify type and amount of damage would make it more complicated. Even just an icon reminding me that there's ongoing damage at all would be useful. Looks good ... I'll try it out next game.

Another option is suggestion, which is pretty excellent for this kind of situation. Next time the dragon shows up, don't just refuse to pay it ... insult it, its mother, and its personal grooming habits. Let it initiate the fight, then have one of those wizards (or more than one, if you want...
