D&D 3E/3.5 Is there ANY way to make whips good using WotC-only 3.5 material?

Yes, then this remains one of the most pathetic weapons imagined for use in combat. Feat required to use it (exotic) Feat required to Trip without provoking Only does minimal non-lethal has its own built-in DR of ANY armor or Nat. Armor But still romanticized by all the Indiana Jones lovers.

Sorry, this was your only reference 1) ranger trips opponent (no AoO bc of Improved Trip) I ignored the feat because you would not normally have a AoO from attacking with a weapon. Right on.

Flaming whip Yes your energy damage applies without being converted to non-lethal. Just as if you attacked a Fey creature with DR. You don't have to cause weapon damage for the energy damage to apply.

Where is #3 coming from. 3) ranger thwacks opponent on head w/ mace again bc: "If you trip an opponent in melee combat, you immediately get a melee attack against that opponent as if you hadn’t used your attack for the trip attempt." No, you used your attack to trip. Done.

AoO Q - Cat vs. Commoner

down kitty Tiny creatures may enter another square using thier 5' step. However, similar to engaging in a grapple, if they do not kill or otherwise render thier foe helpless, they are ejected back into the square they started in. As far as the 5' step provoking, it is NOT the "movement"...
