    Explain Spiritual Weapon to me

I'm not as keen on consecrated ground as a lot of people are, but I've not actually seen it in action. Still, even if SW didn't attack on the sustain and just prolonged combat advantage against the target... that's pretty nice by itself, a possible 1d10+Wis damage every round is just gravy.

    Explain Spiritual Weapon to me

Wow, that really increases the potential of that power. Thank you for the clarification, and a page number to point to in case my DM gets angry ;)

    Explain Spiritual Weapon to me

I tried searching around and couldn't find an answer to this, so I thought I'd tack it on here for clarification: Spiritual Weapon in its description says it lasts until the end of your next turn, the sustain allows you to make another attack with it. Does it still go away at the end of your...

    Warlock Q

Yes, a Warlock can carry as many curses during an encounter as they're able to place. The only limitations on this is that once cursed by one warlock, the monster cannot be cursed by another warlock and you can only curse the closest enemy.

Natural attacks and Class attacks confusion

I think this is exactly his point about the dagger, though - it has two different modes of function.

    Most overrated "broken" things?

I think this last point is the best one, too. DM's need to be on top of the rules because a lot of times what's broken is merely misunderstood or misused. I ran a Psion once and missed the bit about not being able to use more total power points on augmentation than your manifester level...

    invisibility vs. dispel magic

It doesn't matter, though, does it? As Hyp pointed out, the rules for invisibility mean the perception of the person invisible matters, not the perception of the victim.

PHB2: Melee Weapon Mastery - am I missing something?

Maybe, but I'm not sure I like the opportunity cost of requiring your cleric to cast it on you every day. I'd rather have the +5 weapon naturally, and they can use that spell slot to prepare an extra freedom of movement or restoration, or if they like to wade into combat themselves, Divine...

    Most overrated "broken" things?

    I wasn't disagreeing with you ;)

The degrees of D&D - levels of character or levels of magic?

My characters have a history of conflict with the party cleric (seriously, the last 4 parties... different characters, different clerics, different players), so my fighters would never say that. Mostly they say, "You stupid cleric, why can't you heal anymore? What good are you!"
  12. The Blow Leprechaun

    Most overrated "broken" things?

I don't own the book of 9 swords, but I do know that I hear the Crusader popping up all the time as an effective build, or even for dipping to put some spine in a character.

How do you handle rolling for HP?

PC classes are already above average when it comes to hit dice. What is the warrior NPC class except a fighter with a d8 instead of a d10? An adept except a cleric with a d6 instead of a d8? The game was already designed to put PCs above average, I've never felt like they needed an extra push to...

    The Price of Propaganda

You can't fool me, I've watched the 24 hours news channels! There's no difference at all between propaganda and news! I don't know, the way I read the original post is more along the lines of news (spreading the word about his deeds) than creating an epic tale of daring and romance (which I...

    The Price of Propaganda

I'd fire my agent if they allowed Russell Crowe to portray me. You realize he required them to make special lightweight armor for him during the filming of Gladiator? Even the old dude who played Marcus Aurelius wore the regular, heavy armor. What a wimp! It seems to me that I'm interested in...

The degrees of D&D - levels of character or levels of magic?

I agree with levels because I don't believe magic is the be-all and end-all of power in the D&D world. I think casters make better villains than heroes, anyway. Part of the heroic concept to me is an unflagging desire to do what's right. Wizards are all "I've used up my spells, let's rest for...
  17. The Blow Leprechaun

    Most overrated "broken" things?

This is true, but the real problem with broken things is when you lose variety. When a player is ostracized for taking a feat, class, weapon, ability, or whatever instead of another one because it's essentially useless, or not nearly as good as this other one. I played a core rogue in an OA...
  18. The Blow Leprechaun

How do you handle rolling for HP?

I like to employ a client-centered approach to hit points, so instead of assigning scores, I simply ask the players how their characters "feel" about getting hit in the face with a greataxe. If they say "not good," I usually stop the encounter right there and we all hold hands for a little while...

    Magic items that increase speed?

I point this out only because it came up recently in a game I played, but remember that named bonuses of the same type do not stack with each other. I was a monk wearing boots of striding and springing and got no speed benefit because the boots and my monk fast movement are both enhancement...
