Congratulations to 2018's ENnie Award Winners!

Chaosium and Arc Dream Publishing cleaned up last night. I may have to give in and pick up Delta Green now, lol. Strong OSR presence on stage last night but WOTC was a no show for picking up publisher of the year award...that seemed a bit awkward when they didn't even send an intern.

The Next Dungeons & Dragons Storyline Will Be...

It's going to be year of the cities. Between this and the DCC treatment of Lankhmar there's going to be a lot of urban adventure in my immediate future. I'm curious what they did for random tables given the mention of the old city system boxed set being an inspiration. I'll keep my copy of...

Can the Geek Crate Model Survive?

http://goodman-games.com/blog/2017/09/04/announcing-the-friendly-neighborhood-game-box/ looks like Goodman Games is going to jump into this. I'm curious about the pricing but this seems more geared towards print products rather than tchotchkes so I'm willing to look when they launch.

Congratulations to the 2017 Gen Con EN World RPG Award Winners!

Blood in the Chocolate and Veins of the Earth are both incredible books! Not only are they well written (Veins has some deep (no pun intended) portions that will provoke thought) but beautifully laid out and constructed. Best purchases of Gen Con.

    Gen Con By The Numbers

I was surprised to see Paizo sell through their Starfinder stock during the show. The pop up store experiment they ran by the Sagamore Ballroom helped them by having 2 areas (one right by the game space) to sell from. One of the GMs I spoke to said that they were surprised by the rate of sales...

    Dungeon Crawl Classics - Vornheim

Great write ups! Interesting to see bits and pieces of both DCC and Vornheim peaking through the narrative. Not sure how far you've gone with the Granary Cats but it's making me think of Jim Butcher's cats in The Aeronaut's Windlass and how they help protect the city and how to work something...

    ORCUS! EXCLUSIVE! ESCAPIST!

If you make it through the madness (DC 23) surrounding Orcus you have to deal with his decorator. Piles of bodies (whole, skeletal, in between) of all sorts in the chamber and lining the walls on the way there to make it feel a bit more homey. Who's controlling access to the chamber? It's not...

Wand of Viscid Globs: Straight Out of Out of The Abyss!

So here's the entry from GDQ 1-7 for comparison (the original from G3 (level 3 area 15) was not as comprehensive:

Gen Con Has Doubled In Size Since 2010

While the dealer hall was especially cramped Thursday - Saturday my final run on Sunday didn't seem to be nearly as busy (immediately after it opened at 10AM). Demos were in full swing the entire time (picked up a couple of new items after getting to play them) and I think I got more demo time...

    The Official Elemental Evil Announcement

http://dndadventurersleague.org/ Looks like Mulmaster will be ground zero for the Elemental Evil season.

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Because if you were giving away free money ($100) someone would complain that you didn't give it to them in their preferred denomination ("why does it have to be a single $100 bill?") :)

D&D 5E OK WotC, I've had just about enough of this...

I'm happy with the release schedule as it is. Flooding the market with "new" material hasn't helped the last 3 editions of the game. I'm more interested in seeing what the OGL looks like so that we can get our fix of one shots and campaign settings from third party publishers. As far as any...

    D&D 5E Running D&D Modules with 5th Ed

No reason why it couldn't. There's enough unexplored space Karameikos to make it work. If you're using the boxed set (2nd Edition AD&D?) version of the setting you'll have plenty to work with. I don't have a copy of the GAZ version but I'm sure it would work out fine if that's what you're...

Planescape PLANESCAPE Classic Setting in PDF

Great news for those who don't have a copy or just want to preserve their physical copy. Hopefully this opens the door for more Planescape books to flesh out Sigil and the planes.

    A Red and Pleasant Land

I got my physical copy today (shipped on 12/22)...AMAZING book! Easy to use and a perfect size to carry as needed.

D&D 5E Suggestions for beginner game of 5E

U1 Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh if you want something that feels like Scooby Doo meets D&D. Definitely different from the typical first adventure dungeon crawl but worth it if you can pull it off. Be as random as possible - make a couple of rolls to determine a random encounter or 3 and see...

    D&D 5E Forgotten Realms version?

Grey Box (original boxed set) might be harder to find in a complete form for a decent price. 2E box set might be easier to find at this point and is pretty loose as far as detail goes. 3.5E Hardcover is well done and does the best job of bringing most (if not all) of the previous lore between 2...

D&D 5E Gem of Your Collection

Castle Zagyg the Upper Works (poor box got destroyed) along with the East Mark Gazetteer in Shrink. Leaving the Gazetteer in shrink is easy since the material is reproduced in the boxed set :)
