D&D General D&D is so mainstream...

You may be interested to know that locally "Bevois" is pronounced BEE-vis - and this is why: Bevis of Hampton - Wikipedia. It's quite an adventure!

Is this a rule of the game? RAW? Or a conventional play style? Or implicit to our understanding of what is an RPG.

Why do Americans pronounce centaurs "centars"???

I've noticed that "obliged" has been killed and had its stuff taken by "obligated" for no good reason other than language changes - but I had to say something when I hears someome talk about a king being "coronated" - as a verb not adjective.

RPG Market Grew 31% In 2020

In my experience, D&D is traditionally played in groups, at one of the players' home. Most weeks of the year, the group around theirs or at mine. One or two days a year in groups at a con.

Corned Beef & Cabbage: A Dwarven Feast?

And for the British now "corned beef" usually refers to what is elsewhere referred to as bully beef. Corned beef and cabage is unknown here AFAICT. Here's a very British corned beef recipe: Corned beef hash with baked beans. So - do dwarves or gnomes have tinned/canned food for iron rations?

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Nymue, Lady of the Lake

Yes, I tend to agree but do you really think it's word that you could currently see used on the BBC, say on Mock The Week? I think self-censorship rather than banning would occur. The OED labels it as derogatory rather than inherently offensive but it's usage is lazy bint, fat bint, etc. I...

D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Nymue, Lady of the Lake

You know that bint is derogatory and marginally offensive in British English? It's not a word that I would use in front of my grandma if she were alive. It's from the generation of slang coming from soldiers. In this case, those stationed in the Middle East. So, a bit like some racial epithets...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Lucifer (1 of 3), Falling Angel

Are you sure you want to say that in public? Apologies. I see that I skipped the second para to get to the Design Notes. My bad etc. Thank you to both of you for your kind words and atention. Much appreciated by this regular and loyal reader of your works. TTFN.

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Lucifer (1 of 3), Falling Angel

I think I did! That image isn't in the article. Did you read the edited version? The 1 is meant to be the explanation? Or hint? BTW. If he's falling, he's going to die when he hits the ground if it's more that 640 feet from Heaven to Earth if he only has resistance to bludgeoning damage.

    D&D 5E (2024) 6E When?

You reach an equilibrium state by having the number of new players equalling the number of quitting players. (c.f. Games Workshop business model basically for boys age ~13 to ~16). The final steady state might not be what it is now but could be substantial.

Boxing Day: For most people the big family gathering is Xmas Day but Boxing Day is a bank holiday, can be a quiet day, and there's no need to cook with so many lefovers around.
