D&D General Why is D&D becoming increasingly gay and left-wing?

I agree with you. I do not understand why D&D publishing caters to this.

D&D General Why is D&D becoming increasingly gay and left-wing?

Reported for what reason? It's an honest question.

D&D General Why is D&D becoming increasingly gay and left-wing?

The evidence is in the recent adventure writing.

D&D General As old as D&D

I am also turning 50 this year. Had not made the connection either. My first game session was in 1985 and that started me on a life-long path enjoying the game, to greater and lesser frequency of play over the years. I have misgivings about the direction of the upcoming edition but I will buy it...

    Grade the GURPS System

My two cents... I owned several GURPS books in the old days and I really enjoyed reading them, speculating about games, wrote a few house game adventures, etc. But I could not find anyone to play; it was D&D or bust. That said, the "Space" module is fantastic for providing ground work on how to...

D&D (2024) Are you going to buy the new 2024 D&D Core Books

I totally agree. I absolutely love my 5E collector books, though only have a couple of them. Wish I jumped in when my LFGS had them in stock but even so the collector books scratche a massive nostalgia itch for me. I can't explain it better than that.

D&D 5E Expansion Rules Gift set: Should I buy?

Personally, I have no plans to re-buy. The value of the books listed are all rather limited for me, I simply don't find much of the material that interesting, or that useful at the table. I like them enough to not sell them but certainly enough to warrant buying them yet again. Just my two cents.

    D&D 5E A 5e D&D combat simulator website (on steroids)

This is amazing, well done and thank you for your service to the community. There is room for improvement for this sort of thing, sure, but it's a damn good start. I love that importing characters from DNDbeyond is an option. I imported my current party and threw some enemies from our current...

D&D 4E Tropes of the Nentir Vale

Has anyone taken the time to modify the Conquest map to incorporate the various extra bits from the Dragon magazine articles?

    D&D 5E DnD 5e War Rules Help

We use Conquest of Nerath mechanics. Works well, easy, resolves quickly.

OD&D Edition Experience: Did/Do You Play Basic D&D? How Was/Is it?

We played a bunch of times a few years ago and the sessions were among our most fun, most memorable. The lack of game mechanics made it feel very free-form. The game is still fun and definitely still playable.

    D&D 5E Free 60+ page Guide to Sword & Sorcery for 5E D&D

Great writing, I love it! If only my players were as enthusiastic for S&S.

D&D General Starter set campaigns from older editions?

Mysteries of the Moonsea (3E). I've run the starter adventure many times for new players, always goes over well. First adventure fits into a single session. but the rest should be considered extras for whatever else you come up with for the setting.

D&D 4E Tropes of the Nentir Vale

Question from the clueless: what exactly is OP linking to? Personal campaign? I'm not sure what the point of the post is. At any rate, I love Nentir. Ran my 4E games there and continued when 5E came out. Still playing there, roughly converting official modules to Nentir locations. One of my...

D&D 5E Tyranny of Dragons Getting Republished in Combined Anniversary Volume

I loved running this adventure despite all the work it took to organize. Some serious highlights for us in terms of "best gaming moments". Despite all the structural issues I have super fond memories of playing this adventure. I would be tempted to buy it again with new cover art, but only if...

preparing for an ancient black dragon

Can we get more threads like this? I find this way more interesting and complex than the "which X is best?" sort of discussion. I have been DM'ing for many years but I'm honestly not that familiar with advanced use of spells in higher-level challenges, but I've learned a lot by reading this...

Nentir Vale Coming to Dungeons and Dragons

This might sound odd, but I actually enjoyed the board game tie-ins. For example, the "Conquest of Nerath" boardgame was occasionally played to describe political upheavals, which would be translated into background narrative for our usual sort of D&D games. As for points-of-light explicitly...

[Homebrew] In a godless campaign what do you with clerics?

Niiiice. I love it! I'll have to think about this one... Awesome as this sounds, that would drift into "more work for me" territory. I'm pretty sure the Thuule setting writers probably came up with something along this line, though I haven't read that yet. Still, I see where you're going with...

[Homebrew] In a godless campaign what do you with clerics?

Haha, true, but only because I'm busy with work and didn't have time to check in! This is the direction I'm going. It's easier for me, lets the players imagine whatever, satisfies the *ahem* curiously particular narrative demands I have. No special backstory as to why, just a story-telling...

[Homebrew] In a godless campaign what do you with clerics?

So much great advice here! I'm grateful. I'll do a big reply to each point that corresponds to the "comic book logic" dilemma I've proposed. Thanks for your help everyone! I like this because it also does not limit player options, which I prefer to avoid (unless there's a specific story...
