    Alignment Issues!

I'm kind of partial to the original set: law, chaos, and neutral.

Can a combat system be based on marching order?

It's an interesting option and it leaves the door open for a 4e style defender mechanic for those that want one.

A Question for the 25 and under crowd - What have you read?

I'm about three years too old for the poll. I'm sort of a cheat, since I've been making an effort to read some of the pulp fantasy that originally inspired D&D. I've read a little of Leiber, Howard, Rowling, Jordan, Pratchett, and Brooks; and I've read more of Tolkien and Moorcock. I've meant...

    Retro-Conversions of the Warlock?

I don't think it would be too difficult to do. Take the Warlock class and the appropaite classes from your D&D of choice; then use the later as a template to rewrite the former. The Warlock attacks like a cleric, saves like a magic-user, and has thief HD. There are some invocations that...

Critiquing the Conjunction : Forked from the Great Conjunction

For me, the setting's backstory is kind of bland. I think it has to do with the use of generic terms (like the City). Making your terminology a little more specific might make it more interesting to me. I have no problem getting into the setting's present. Sure, I'd like to hear more about it...

Critiquing the Conjunction : Forked from the Great Conjunction

Eightfold Eightfold By Kevin Crawford Eightfold takes place six-hundred years after the fall of a magical civilization. The PCs are Servitors, the heirs to what's left of that civilization's magical tradition, trying to make their way in a fallen world of savage wilderness, warring...

    The Great Conjunction (Announcement)

I think the Conunction is a success, even if there isn't a winner. Thanks for starting it and giving me a much needed kick in the pants. I hope your health improves.

Critiquing the Conjunction : Forked from the Great Conjunction

The Awakening I'm trying to reread all of the other entries and write something about them. Forgive me if they're a little on the skeletal side. The Awakening By David S. Percival I like the setting. It strikes a nice balance between focus and openness. After the world falls under a mystic...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

I was planning on working an expanded version of Deep Black anyway. So, I would be game for the second draft idea. Here's what I've been thinking about for Deep Black (in no particular order): 1) A section about various locations in the US along with two or three rumors for each location that...

Critiquing the Conjunction : Forked from the Great Conjunction

Thanks for the critiques Jack and Cardinal you both gave me some interesting things to mull over when I expand Deep Black. I got the chance to play test the game myself, but I wasn't able to get play test information from other people. One of my major goals for an expanded version is to see...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

I am interested in seeing what you come up with.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Yeah, the book's a little over a decade older than I am, though some of the materials I used to get myself excited about the project* are older. * Mostly early Alfred Hitchcock films and episodes of The Prisoner.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Thanks. I was thinking about those old studies into remote viewing and psychic phenomenon when I started working on the project. I have this great book Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain that probably should have reread while I was working on the game.

d20 modern Failed...why? (or did it?)

The convoluted talents are one of my least favorite things about d20 Modern. It's hard to remember how they work and they tend to allow a saving throw with a low DC to avoid the effect, which limits their usefulness.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Deep Black Here’s the Great Conjunction edition of Deep Black for your consideration. In this game you play ex-CIA spies that have gained magic powers after participating in a government run experiment. It’s a mix of espionage, crime drama, and surrealism. It’s also something I wouldn’t have...

d20 modern Failed...why? (or did it?)

I had a lot of fun running the Agents of PSI setting from the d20 Modern corebook.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

I've been working on Deep Black, a game of ex-CIA officers with magic powers trying to change the future. Right now I'm working on getting it proofed, so it should be ready by Saturday.

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

Fans of Naruto might want to take a look at 666 Satan (aka O-Parts Hunter in America) by Seishi Kishimoto (twin brother Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto). It's interesting comparing the similarities and differences in their styles and characters.

Who's actually a fan of D20M's nonlethal damage system?

Most of the fights in my last game were with guns, melee weapons, and later on psi-blades. I did use one NPC that focused on nonlethal fighting and he worked out well.

    LARPers and D&D players

I spend most of my roleplaying time running table top and MET (or rather my own larp system which is vaguely like MET). I have recently started getting interested in a boffer weapon game as well.
