Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

D&D is not going to innovate or change any sacred cows. The last time for that was D&D Next. The rules are 'good enough' to continue to keep the game in print for longer than I will be on this good, green earth. And compared to some of the iterative designs of D&D Next, 5E is very toned down...

    Psionics--the Poll!

I agree, despite my love of psionics, that the name and naming of powers, is very 70's new age and pop psychology. There is a place in fantasy stories to have the psychic who affects others or the environment with merely their will and thought. And Buddha knows, there are so many better ways to...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I miss all the juicy gossip when I pull long work hours... I wish Jeremy Crawford all the best going forward and thank him for his contributions to D&D. I did not always agree with his rules interpretations, but you could tell his decisions were from a play perspective, not just a white room...

Shadowdark Western Reaches Stretch Goal: New Classes

I love the Abhorsen Trilogy. I love Earthsea. This Neck Romancer is right up my alley. Most of the flavor is going to be the spells and how Walk in Death modifies effects. The setting and lore are very evocative. I love the whole Crow-like (or Undertaker) theme of the returning from death...

Shadowdark Western Reaches Stretch Goal: New Classes

I went with Jester and Psion, but I like all the spell casting options. I trust Kelsey will do something beyond just spells for psionics. Paladin and barbarian seem to be covered by existing classes. Jester at least feels like something new.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

I like to consider myself a pessimist, but I am, unfortunately, an optimist. I can see my disappointment coming, but it still hits just as hard...

Wizards of the Coast Is Sunsetting Sigil's Active Development

I am glad that there is a future for Sigil, as limited as it may be. Hopefully, Hasbro can learn from this iteration of VTT development. Now, using Sigil assets as a digital terrain set that could be imported into a leaner easier to run VTT might bear fruit. I don't know if that is even a...

Minis in a Starter Set? Preferences?

I love 3D printed minis, but that is too much of a cost difference to be a worthy inclusion. Whatever option allows for the most monsters and PCs would be great. Color would be better for a younger audience, but the chibi style in plain wood looks good as a uniform set.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

I am sad for the Sigil developers, and especially, Andy Collins, who lost their jobs and their project. Losing employment in this economic moment is pretty grim. This news is an unmitigated tragedy for them. I wish them all good luck and future prosperity. Hasbro c-suite only understands their...

    Psionics--the Poll!

I do not think there is any proponent for psionics design at WotC. It is why we have the Aberrant Sorcerer subclass as psionic caster in 5e. Much of the problem with how psionics is presented, the wizard is the owner of all things even remotely supernatural. Hammering everything into a...

    Psionics--the Poll!

Yes. I like having more power sources than arcane, primal, and divine. I also like psionics to be a different system than magic. I like having overlap of spells and powers. It makes the game more interesting. The Enchanter and Telepath poking around some NPCs head, they know there is something...

Owen KC Stephens has beaten Cancer! The Beacons are Lit!

Great news! Also, 'vile hateflesh' is such an appropriate moniker.

Why doesn't WizKids sell 3d print files?

The problem is WizKids, like GW, is an old school company. They make widgets to sell in stores or web stores. The concept of selling the stls is anathema to them. They look at the horror stories of big 3D companies (Loot Studios, Archvillain, Lord of the Print) and the problem of unauthorized...

D&D General Baldurs Gate, Darksun, Fallout Mashup.

Very cool! Change to magic? Psionics? Corruption of power? Might look at Forbidden Lands by Free League for ideas. Post-apocalyptic fantasy ideas to mine.

D&D (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Not sure why Greyhawk having Dragonborn and Goliath is a big deal. They will be small populations like every other demihuman race. You have 'monster' run nations in Greyhawk. Turosh Mak wouldn't turn away giant-kin or Dragon Men in the Pomarj or under Iuz. 1e had a lizardfolk assassin in 1E in...

D&D (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

I am glad Greyhawk is getting something finally. A new poster map with the Flaeness and City of Greyhawk. Sold right there. I don't think we are getting a complete update to Greyhawk. This won't be the full setting. They will use Greyhawk to provide the examples for How to Build a Campaign...

D&D General And the Druid Explodes: Understanding the AD&D Design Space's Legacy

I think the tension between the codified Gygaxian game and the permissible Arnesonian style is what led to the endurance of D&D. House rules and rule ignoring pushed and pulled the game to taste for each table. Even the rules had different ways to skin a cat, Dual Classing vs. Multiclassing is a...

D&D 5E D&D Beyond Shares Free 'Phandalin Post' Player Handout

Summoned Scribes from Mechanus. Plus the population is so small you only need to run under 20 copies. How many miners can read anyways? I believe this is an artists recreation of the scene. Starving artists need work too. Jimmy Olsen the court sketch artist maybe?

Sneak Peak of Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk

Very stoked for this. I am curious to see the adjustable 'rating' slider for the adventure. LMoP was a near perfect introduction to D&D and it worked for all ages. Dear lord, I have so much terrain to make in less than a month...
