No, in 4E they get an attack that they can only use vs. stunned opponents. If the damage from that attack reduces the victim to 0 hp or less, then their brain is eaten and they are immediately killed. Basically, they don't get to use their death saves.

Just wanted to agree with this. I stopped visiting the site long ago because it won't work with IE6, and for various reasons that's the browser I use most. Large areas of the main page just appear as black areas so it feels like I'm playing Russian Roulette when I navigate their site.

My guess would be that the effect ends either when you rest or when you spend a number of healing surges = to 1/2 the fort penalty. So, if you've been hit twice by this ability and have suffered -4 to your Fort, you would have to spend 2 surges or rest to end the effect.
