    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

True Strike is a good substitute for the Blade Cantrips right now, and overall, I think it is better, but I lament the loss of Light Armor, as I love the armored fighter mage concept, and Eldritch Knight and Warlock just don't fit the bill for me.

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

Interestingly, there is a 'lite' conversion for Princes of the Apocalypse in the back of that adventure to run it in Dark Sun. That could be a good place for a starting campaign too.

Wizards of the Coast Releases Exodus TTRPG

Sorry for the thread Necromancy, but I went to the website to buy the books and it says they are sold out. Is there any plans for more print runs, or anywhere else I can get these volumes? Thanks!

Daggerheart Releases Bloodhunter Class for Playtesting

Honestly, I personally never liked the Blood Hunter. I dislike using HP as a resource. This was a problem in the old Star Wars D20 game where you used you Vitality to power Force Powers. You were basically killing yourself to use your class abilities. Not a fan of that type of mechanic. If you...

Release The Art of Kobold Press Releases Oct 8!!

As I've said before, ToV has the BEST layout and I love the crisp and clear pages with excellent art. Hands down the best of the core books in design. YMMV.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

My group and I don't care for them for a variety of reasons. I wish they had done something more akin to BG 3's weapon maneuvers personally, although that may have stepped on the Battle Master Fighter somewhat.

D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

We can agree to disagree on this one.

D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

Why? Necromancy was commonly used for divination purposes by speaking with the dead. D&D, of course, has expanded what they do, but this seems like a good take on them. That one seems to fit for me. The Summoner, on the other hand, yeah, that one needs work.

D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

I know this ship has sailed seeing as how four subclasses are already in the PHB, however, they should have gone with more thematic subclasses rather than attach themselves to the old eight schools. I’d propose the following - Battle Mage - a master of Abjuration and Evocation magic Beguiler -...

    The Enterprise through the ages

I have heard these also, however, they are all non-canon, including my version. The Yorktown version comes from the AMT model kit, while the Atlantis is from the Voyage Home Supplement from FASA Games. The Ti-Ho is mentioned in Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise, but that reference claims the...

    The Enterprise through the ages

Actually, according to most sources ( all of which may be non-canon ), the Enterprise-A was not a new ship. It was the rechristened U.S.S. Yorktown, which was an old Constitution from TOS. She was refitted like the Enterprise from The Motion Picture. It was done this way because they didn't have...

Best Star Trek/Mass Effect-like RPGs in your opinion?

I have recently discovered Esper Genesis. It is a 5E game based on the 2014 Rules. It is very Mass Effect adjacent, but can also fit the Star Wars, Firefly, Babylon 5 feel. It could possibly do Star Trek if you file the numbers way off, but the crew of a government ship exploring the universe is...

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

Your point is well taken, I just never liked feeling like I'm not my Class most of the time. Personal taste, nothing more.

LOL, I'll try, but I suspect they won't let me or even read it if i do!

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

My big problem with the Valor Bard is that you can't use your Bardic Inspiration on yourself. Also, you don't get 'real' Wizard spells until around 10th level. You are correct that the 6th and 14th Levels are virtually, if not actually, the same. That, to me, is incredibly bad design choice...

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

I disagree. They renamed many subclasses, and with backwards compatibility, you can technically still play the old version if you want and with GM approval.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

After a discussion with one of my players, I had a thought about the Bladesinger. I have always hated the fact that they changed it for anyone other than an Elf to use, especially the Lore behind it, in that it is supposed to take almost 30 years to master the basics. However, I think I have hit...

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

A lot of reasons, Flavor, Better initial spell list, a lot of abilities like Bardic Inspiration I just don't want, etc. Bladesingers have been my favorite since 2E ( see my Handle ). I haven't been happy with the Lore changes, but that's easily House Ruled. And, to be fair, the armor thing is...
