ZEITGEIST 4e monsters and NPCs mysteriously missing hit points?

Can confirm that 4e fights are long. We're in Adventure 13 and just finished a battle with Harkover Lee. It took two sessions and about 5 hours of playtime.

    ZEITGEIST Srasama Lives!

Whoa - one of my players said, "That doesn't look like Srasama, it looks like a dragon." I definitely saw a giant flaming woman when I first looked at it, but now I can also see a dragon, and it flips back and forth between the two images like one of those vase/faces things. Brains are weird.

    ZEITGEIST Srasama Lives!

This pic was taken of the California fires this week, and mirrored to reveal the presence of Srasama in our world.

ZEITGEIST Are magic item powers usable in Danor in 4e?

In our campaign, we're using Inherent Bonuses so that no one "needs" to use magic items if they don't want to. This allowed me to take away ALL of their magic items when we got to Danor. Your magic staff is just a stick now.

Dragon Blood for the Sacrament of Apotheosis (Spoilers)

In Adventure 8, we learned that performing the Sacrament of Apotheosis requires the sacrifice of a lion, a whale, an eagle, and a dragon and using their blood to paint words on the subject of the ritual. This is awesome not only because of the four-elements theme (earth, water, air, and fire)...

    RHC uniforms?

The RHC feels more like the CIA to me than like a uniformed service, so in our campaign constables are indicated by a badge rather than a uniform. It's led to some great scenes in which the PCs are infiltrating somewhere and suddenly whip out their badges to put someone under arrest. Also...

Rock Rakus - Vekeshi Plot Complications

My party also chose to kill off Rock, so I just replaced him with another NPC: the cousin of a PC who served as an undercover contact aboard the Avery Coast Railroad. Since the character is from a PC's backstory, the party has a stronger emotional connection to her, and it's also allowed me to...

Rock Rakus - Vekeshi Plot Complications

This sounds like a great way to put the PCs in debt to a nefarious NPC. Perhaps Governor Stanfield bails them out, then makes it clear that they owe him a favor. Later on, when they're starting to figure out that he might be a traitor, he calls in that favor to send them somewhere irrelevant on...

Plane Shift: how to let a PC be awesome without breaking the plot

Thanks for the detailed reply, Ranger! I essentially went with your ideas verbatim, with a few story-specific caveats regarding how, exactly, she's going to learn and/or invent this ritual. And yeah, it's been quite a journey from level 1 to level 24, and epic tier play has been completely...

Plane Shift: how to let a PC be awesome without breaking the plot

One of the PCs in my group has gotten deep into planar magic - she's an elemental warlock skyseer with the planeshifter PP and the planeshaper ED. (They're currently level 24 and are in the second half of adventure 10.) This gives her a lot of teleportation powers, including several ways to...

ZEITGEIST [ZEITGEIST] About to start the campaign! Any tips from experienced players and DM's?

The setting won't give you much on the ecology of Dragonborn in Ber, so you should make some stuff up. Here's how I changed the setting to make things more interesting for my Dragonborn PC. Note that none of this canon. There are only five recognized peoples of Ber: the Minotaurs, the Orcs...

ZEITGEIST [ZEITGEIST] About to start the campaign! Any tips from experienced players and DM's?

Here's my advice: 1. Read, read, read! Read the next adventure all the way through before beginning play, and continue perusing it as your PCs make their way through the adventure. There are a LOT of details, and your players won't (and shouldn't) follow the trail of breadcrumbs exactly as the...

Tips on running the assault on Torfeld Palace?

This is super useful, thanks! I missed the fact that the dragon wasn't ready to go from round one, and I like the idea of scattering NPC defenders throughout the castle so that the PCs can stumble on the various groups of enemies mid-slaughter. Thanks for the quick response!

Tips on running the assault on Torfeld Palace?

So the constables have escaped The Dreaming by framing Thrisaldion for murder and having one of the PCs offer his personality fealty to the Voice of Rot. (No way that this can go badly...) They're now racing to the palace to try to prevent the assassination of King Aodhan. Looking over the...

    Likability of Rock Rackus

Our Vekeshi Mystic killed him off in Adventure Three - I think the party got about two scenes with him, tops, before he bit the dust. I replaced him in later adventures with the cousin of one of the PC's, and the group responded much better to it. If you're group doesn't like Rackus, it's...
