D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

I was thinking a bonus action that must be repeated every turn. The party is likely to give the bell to the bard, leaving the character free to cast calm emotions or mantle of inspiration on his action. Oh yeah, good idea. I want the mist to limit their vision as well, so they're traveling in a...

D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

I'm thinking just a single round. It fits with previous in-game lore, plus I want one of the party to have to take charge of ringing the bell. (This will probably be the bard with no offensive spells.)

D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

For enemies that are unaffected by the bell, someone on Discord suggested that maybe the spirit or its minions could animate piles of debris.

D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

Yes, that's what happened in the previous case. If that happens ... sequel adventure! However, the other spirit had actual mind domination abilities. This one would have to try to trick or persuade someone into destroying the vessel. The current situation continues: spirit outside but unable to...

D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

It's prehistorically ancient. Here is the lore the players have about it in game. (Pardon my Korean.) An-gae is the spirit they will be fighting. (Eo-duun goes on to become the warlock's patron.) Also: I just remembered something very important I left out of the original post, which I have...

D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

Yes, they have information about the spirit's past and how it was bound to the vessel.

D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Create an Epic Final Boss Fight!

Hi, folks! A two-year campaign is coming to a close in a couple of days, and I could use some help making the final fight extra special. The party is level 8 (bard, warlock, fighter, barbarian, rogue, and a custom class shaman). They will be fighting their way through a mist-infested abandoned...

D&D General I Just Want To Teleport and Stab Things

Haven't read the whole thread, but might this be helpful?

D&D General You Were Rolling Up a New Character, and Just Rolled a 3. What Is Your Reaction?

As for my personal reaction, it would depend on who I was playing with and what mindset I was in at the time. I could see myself thinking any of the possible options.

D&D General You Were Rolling Up a New Character, and Just Rolled a 3. What Is Your Reaction?

I had a player roll a 3 in a game with rolled stats. I told him I'd let him pull points from other stats to prop up that 3. He took me up on it and bumped the character's INT to 6.

    D&D General Aevarun The World

This probably should go in the Gamers Seeking Gamers forum: https://www.enworld.org/forums/gamers-seeking-gamers.49/ Sounds like a cool campaign, though! You make me wish I had time for another regular game. :)

D&D General Friday Nonsense: Add One Stat To D&D (For PCs)

Some of my oldschool friends still add comeliness as separate from charisma. Mostly just for fun and roleplaying opportunities. I kinda think initiative would be an interesting stat to have divorced from dexterity.

D&D 5E (2014) What is your favorite encounter site or dungeon from an official module?

I have a fondness for Xonthal's Tower in Rise of Tiamat. They handled the maze in a way that appeals to me, as a series of encounters to be solved.

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

I think you're missing a key point here, which is that 10-year-olds are usually DM'ing for other 10-year-olds, who are not as demanding an audience as adults. It's not that unusual for 10-year-olds to write or paint or DM well enough to impress their peers.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

Town guards don't typically use the commoner stat block. They could be anything from guards to veterans to knights.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

I've never gotten into Talislanta for similar reasons. Their only advertising slogan is "No Elves!"

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

That's just the old "Can I play a ninja?" trope. Some players just want their characters to stick out in the setting.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

I don't think it's just a 5E thing. I definitely remember friends taking advantage of the playable monster rules back in 3.5 for "exotic" characters.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

You are not alone. I chalk it up to different priorities in character focus: some players are more drawn to macro-level difference/novelty (either in mechanical terms or in roleplaying concepts), while others prefer to differentiate at the micro level by making this human different from the...

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

I personally didn't find it so, and I played it up to level 17. But my group is pretty casual for the most part, and not into wringing every last bit of DPR out of their builds.
