I would hope that before you make a purchasing decision, you'd do a little more research than just reading a single marketing blurb. It's not like it's especially hard to suss out what Starfinder is like. And if you're not thinking of buying it, why would you care?

Do you mean the specially powered magic stuff from the GM Core? If so, no, that's not what seems to be going on in Starfinder. 2e looks to have the same system as in 1e, where you have to go shopping for new stuff every couple of levels.

That sounds like a great solution. Unfortunately the Archive of Nethys linked by Velderan shows they still have huge lists of armor and weapons gated by level and price. This makes me sad. Well, mostly I'm sad that Daggerheart inexplicably chose to copy this system, but I guess that's off topic...

I agree that the characters are the best. The story of the campaign loses steam about 2/3 of the way through, though. IMO.
