    Improving magic items

I don't think that the sentimental character should be penalized or rewarded with respect to his more mercenary counterpart. The costs don't matter in the actual specifics, so let's just say that a +1 sword is worth 1000g and a +1 flaming sword is worth 4000g. If you disenchant an item you get...

    The Power of 5

But what about when the PCs kick in the door, kill everybody and loot the +3 sword? Are you saying there aren't some other adventurers out there who would like to have a +3 sword of orc pwning? If there are, why isn't there someone to sell it to them?

    Polymorph - Gone?!?

And good riddance. ---- The Races and Classes preview book has a short bit at the end about druids. It seemed to indicate that druids will be more focused in their role as "nature-y people who turn into animals and then kill you but good." The impression that I got was that there would be...

D&D 4E Why I hate the Hydra: —and other dumbed down 4E monsters—

Wrong wrong WRONG! Monsters are nothing more than big bags of XP. The bag itself is made of HPs. Once you chop through all those pesky hit points you get to the warm and gooey XP center. This is, of course, an easy mistake to make. ;)

    D&D 4E 4e FAQ

Cleave Question A fighter can hit two opponents with his Cleave power. Any target he attacks (hit or miss) he can mark with his Combat Opportunist ability. If he uses his Cleave power can he mark both of the targets or only the one he rolls the attack against?

Different strokes. I find rolling for every little thing annoying. I have absolutely no problem having two different characters, one of whom is an excellent blacksmith and the other who just says he is. As far as I'm concerned, neither needs to have any skill points in smithing at all. And...

Except if you require rolls and skill points you have people becoming expert brewers overnight. After all, they used all their skill points. That's a big sacrifice. Are you saying that having made that sacrifice they aren't now good brewers?

It's quite a leap from "roleplaying and story elements can be handled by talking them out" to "dice bad." I think that having skills for things that should be in the little box titled "Background" is a bit silly. A fighter of average intelligence cannot be a wizard with ropes, have excellence...

    Cleave

So, can we split this off into a slightly different direction than bag-o-rats? If the fighter is taking on two non-minions. Say a pair of Dragonshields, for instance. If he uses his cleave attack on the first and pings the second for 3 damage, can he mark both of them? My inclination is to say...

And I look at those d20 rolls and say "Um... Spent a lot of money on those dice and wanted to make sure they worked?" The answer to your question is that the dwarf king tastes the beer brewed by the dwarf who has a history of brewing and announces that it is a worthy stout from a stout friend...
