Any Ember backers with beta access? (spoiler friendly)

If any fellow EN Worlders have backed Ember and have beta access, I would be interested in your thoughts so far. I assume that anyone backing Ember is doing so as a GM who thinks that they may run the game, so I'm not going to comment out spoilers or expect other to. Hopefully the thread title...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Took advantage of the Cubicle7 clearance sale and the books arrived last week. Great deal on the special printings. The Elector Counts was an impulse buy. Have no idea if the card game is any good, but it was on clearance and cheap enough to give it a shot.

    Does anyone have Kickstarter regrets?

Yeah, I got a LOT of use out of Strongholds & Followers and have generally liked every MCDM product I backed, but I never had any interest in using Kingdoms & Warfare once I got it. At least I only backed for digital.

RPG Evolution: The Quest for the Table

That sucks. The libraries in my county when I was living in MN had conference rooms of various sizes that you could book for free. It was limited to twice per month for the same group. The main issue was that they would be booked up quickly, but if you had a reliable group, and were on top of...

RPG Evolution: The Quest for the Table

My first apartment since moving to Milwaukee had lots of nice meeting spaces and common areas but it was all modern glass walls and large open areas. I don't like running games in a fish bowl surrounded by non-gamers. The place I'm moving to next has a nice closed off common room that gives...

RPG Evolution: The Quest for the Table

Emphasis mine. You don't know how good you've had it until its gone. I moved from Roseville, MN to Milwaukee. I would have thought Milwaukee would be somewhat similar in terms of FLGS as the Twin Cities, but I've not found one FLGS in Milwaukee County with decent playing space for TTRPGs...

    Does anyone have Kickstarter regrets?

I bought so much physical play aids, terrain, and minis when I first got back into TTRPGs when 5th ed was release and most of it never got used. But as part of downsizing and moving, I've given it all to folks I know will get use out of them so I don't feel too bad. More of long-delayed gifts...

D&D General The D&D Memes Thread

I suppose a Donut Hole meme would be NSFENWorld. ;-). Also, I wouldn't want to get kicked out of the Royal Court of Pincess Donut fan club.

Sorry, they've been recycled. Moving to another state and downsizing from a house to an apartment, while working full time and dealing with medical issues is enough stress that I'm pretty much taking a Marie-Kondo-during-an-emergency-evacuation approach to de-cluttering and downsizing.

D&D General You Can Now Get Mike Schley's Official Map of Faerûn

For medical reasons, we are selling our house and moving to an apartment, requiring us to aggressively downsize. Most of my physical gaming stuff I gave to another GM, whose kids also play, and I know they'll get a lot of use. I still have the digital files for the maps in case I ever run Curse...

Dungeons & Dragons Returns to Universal Studios Hollywood

Do these events ever go "off Disney" and on the road? Seems like they may not be that practical for traveling shows.

Do you use a Discord voice changer for online play?

I'm wondering if this tech would actually be better at the table during live play? It is so hard to account for the tech of all the players in an online game. For example, I've played around with ambiance music and like it during live, in-person play, but it always feels like a distraction in...

Have any of you tried cloth map printing services (e.g. Custom Game Cloth Map RPG Printing Service - Geekify Inc How does the price compare to printing to color on paper and laminating? I'm guessing at the larger sizes, if your local FedEx, etc. won't laminate, cloth maps may be a nice...

D&D General You Can Now Get Mike Schley's Official Map of Faerûn

Well, I have to say that I also benefited from the fact that my dad still had a large supply of ink but wasn't print much or often. So I never had to pay for even ink. I even got a number of free blueprint tubes to store all the maps I printed. I'm downsizing and moving and it was hard to...

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Exactly. I think running away and even attempting to parley was more core to the game then. Morale rules in OD&D were there from the start. Combat was not default annihilation. Failed morale would lead to monsters fleeing or attempting to parley. Morale was even more strongly emphasized in AD&D...

D&D General You Can Now Get Mike Schley's Official Map of Faerûn

I bought the Schley maps for Curse of Strahd. At the time my father was still only semi-retired and still has a large-format printer so I was able to print everything out at scale. It was nice for in-person play and, while I'm nostalgic about minis on beautiful printed maps and using LOTS of...
