D&D 5E Looking for unique suggestions on making player resurrections punishing.

Everytime a PC is brought back, a paladin of Mr. Resetti appears and harangues the player for 1d4 x 2 minutes, times the total number of times their character has been revived.

D&D 5E things I changed for my game

So what does your assassin do if combat isn't an option? If I was a player in your game and needed to reach a heavily defended target, sometimes disguise is a better idea than stealth.

D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse Adventure Hooks

Try these, its a retooled version of the hooks designed to be handed out to the players without spoiling any of the adventure: http://s3.amazonaws.com/slyflourish_content/princes_backgrounds.pdf

D&D 5E How might one monk grab and steal another monk's staff in combat?

Maybe he has a run-in with the Master of Snakes? After he uses his 1/day staff-to-snake trick, your player will probably drop it voluntarily!

D&D 5E Do Classes Have Concrete Meaning In Your Game?

I'm going to guess Bard then, if only because no other class is willing to carry bagpipes around in public.

D&D 5E Do Classes Have Concrete Meaning In Your Game?

The term 'Class' doesn't exist in universe (unless you're referring to the nobility), but the classes themselves do. They have too much specific fluff not to. A random cutpurse probably won't appreciate being called a rogue, but you won't be wrong, either. The lines get blurred if you're just...

D&D 5E Running away on intimidation

Recruit some archers. Next time around, specifically tell group B when you make the intimidate check that anyone who runs gets shot in the back.

D&D 5E [Forgotten Realms] The Wall of the Faithless

I went to poke around the FR wiki just to see if there was any clarification on what made someone your patron deity: That seems to require both active worship before death, and toeing whatever the party line is. Having to petition also suggests that deities don't stop by and scoop up everyone...

D&D 5E I just don't see why they even bothered with the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide.

Up until we started getting more information about the contents, I had been hoping that the SCAG would be detailed enough that I could use it as my primary source on the Realms instead of having to dig around 20+ years of material. As is, its got enough information to be useful, but not enough...

D&D 5E Access to Races in a Campaign

I think I have different players than the rest of you. I could almost see mine revolting if I tried to restrict races. Between the 3 games I've played/run recently, there have been 4 tieflings, 3 dwarves and 2 dragonborn, and a bunch of other things, but only 2 humans. I could certainly see...

D&D 5E Why traps in D&D usually suck

As a couple other people have pointed out, being low INT doesn't necessarily mean you have to be completely clueless. Might I make a couple of RP suggestions that could let you leverage your expertise while still playing to your stats? 1. Paladin knows a lot of about military history, but can't...

D&D 5E Elemental symbols connect together? (PotA)

Yeah, what I keep thinking they mean from the quoted bit from the book is that if you arrange the 4 main symbols in some fashion (without the little wedge blocks that particular image puts them in), you get that eye symbol, or at least something eye-like... Maybe I should tweet at Mearls and...

    D&D 5E Warlord Name Poll

I'm in the Tactician camp. I don't really mind Warlord or Marshall though, if only because they have precedence.

D&D 5E Elemental symbols connect together? (PotA)

So I tried just directly overlaying all 4 symbols, using the ones found in the corners of Mike Schley's maps. Here's the result. I can't say it looks like any of the symbols depicted in the book, nor any of the ones I see on Google for Ghaunadaur or Tharizdun. Kinda looks like the symbol of...

D&D 5E Designer apathy and sunk costs, The reason the sorcerer is doomed to uncanny valley one-trick-ponieness.

When I still had a wild magic sorcerer in my group, this is what I cobbled together to play with: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DGRejk-T_hUxtf4MEWA6ti3KnchOSbZ-pGoTvDFbHfU/edit (The bonus spells and the metamagic adjustment were from someone else's proposal, I can try and track it down...

    D&D 5E Why Would I Play a Ranger?

Yeah, a whole bunch of the Hunter Ranger's power comes from stacking up all of its different class features. If you compared the wizard to the paladin without smites or the rogue without sneak attack, they'd look pretty bad in comparision too.

D&D 5E Adventure Design: Backstory and History

While I like prose, since most of my prep for published modules involves boiling them down to bulleted lists anyway, it would be simpler for them to start out in that format. I think what I would like more than anything else for WotC's modules would be if there was more of a focus on summaries...

D&D 5E Elemental symbols connect together? (PotA)

I apologize if this has been discussed before -- I did a google search of the forum and elsewhere but didn't uncover anything. I spotted this interesting line in PotA, during the initial cult section: I assume this means that if you rearrange the 4 cult symbols just so, you get the elemental...
