D&D 5E Need help with Dex Trickery Cleric

Oh, if you aren't doing point buy, and you go straight Cleric, I suppose this a rare case where Weapon Master could be good, as it would give you a much needed 16 Dex in addition to the extra 2 damage from using a rapier or a couple short swords instead of a dagger or two.

D&D 5E Need help with Dex Trickery Cleric

I'm assuming since you said "swashbuckler" you want to be melee. If multi-classing, I personally would start Fighter 1 for the weapon proficiencies, second wind and fighting style, (and a couple more level 1 HPs never hurt). If you want to go sword and board, pick the Defense or Dueling style...

    D&D 5E Multiclass: Warlock / Bard - thoughts?

The problem with multiclassing Warlock with (more than 3 levels of) another caster class is that you give up high level spell slots for both classes, unlike with multiclassing 2 non-pact magic caster classes, where you maintain those higher level slots. The only real advantage is having more low...

New D&D Monthly Survey: Mystics & Psionics

We need a new thread to talk about this month's article - I had to scan 12 pages of setting talk nostalgia to find out nobody cares that the Mystic class is total garbage. No Psi points back from short rest? Monk gets all his ki points back (yes he has fewer ki points than Mystic has psi...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a Bladelock

As of right now, RAW it's fine.

D&D 5E Point me to the rule please:

Jeremy Crawford posted a similar tweet, but IMO it doesn't seem consistent with Crawford's Sage Advice: Feats article, which says Crossbow Expert's second benefit works with ranged spell attacks, and Great Weapon Master's first benefit works with non-great weapons. And should feats not work...

    D&D 5E Paladin/Druid build.

The Half-Orc's Savage Attacks ability uses the common wording "melee weapon attack" and almost all beast attacks are listed as "melee weapon attack", so it seems pretty unambiguous. There are a few exceptions, like the Ape's Rock attack which is a Ranged Weapon Attack and wouldn't work with...

    D&D 5E Paladin/Druid build.

I know the question wasn't directed at me but... my vote is for Alternate Human (if allowed). Feats are very powerful, and a lot of fun. I've personally gotten a lot of use out of the Charger feat while wildshaped (it's a huge damage boost early, and very handy for a melee beast to get in range...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a Bladelock

Minsc: about the reaction Eldritch Blast being errata'd, I re-read the errata, and the only thing I can see that you might be thinking of is the Twinned Spell errata (which seems specifically targeted at preventing twinning an Eldritch Blast). The Polearm Master errata only mentions the bonus...

    D&D 5E Paladin/Druid build.

Actually, you choose whether your equipment falls to the ground, melds with your beast form (in which case it gives no benefit) or is worn by your beast form (in which case it works normally). It does have to fit the beast form to be worn though (DM discretion). You can also wear barding in...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a Bladelock

I'm currently playing a Bladelock, planning Fighter 1/Warlock 19. Started Fighter 1, Variant Human, Polearm Master feat, Quarterstaff and shield, Dueling fighting style, which makes for a really fun time even at Level 1, with two attacks doing 1d6+2+str on the first and 1d4+2+str on the second...

D&D 5E How to deal 500+ damage (average) in one round

First, the Tempest Cleric's Channel Divinity: Destructive Wrath says you can use it "when you roll lightning or thunder damage" and can only be used once per short rest, so it's not entirely clear whether or not you can maximize the damage on both the original target and the twinned spell...
