D&D 5E Vengeance Paladin with PAM, Spear & Shield, & Elven Accuracy

I recommend a slight tweak to your progression: lvl 1: Paladin - Get all your good starting equipment lvl 2: Warlock - now you attack with charisma, don't forget your shield spell lvl 3-7: Paladin - elven accuracy, extra attack, save bonus aura lvl 8: Warlock - invocations! You have lots of...

    D&D (2024) 2024 PHB Race discussion

I want to suggest a minor change to dragonborn: the breath weapon tends to be a bit situational and doesn't scale well at higher levels, but what if each element had a minor utility rider? E.G.: a red dragonborn could light a candle with her nose and a silver one could extinguish it, a copper...

    D&D (2024) All about Ardlings

I think so- a half-ardling with human features would work with RAW. IMO the mechanical features currently on ardling would be a good start for aasimar anyway. If I could suggest a change, I might like to see a staged upgrade to the flight mechanic- eg at low tier you can glide if you fall or...

    D&D (2024) All about Ardlings

Quote from the playtest: "An ardling has a head resembling that of an animal, typically one with virtuous associations. Depending on the animal, the ardling might also have soft fur, downy feathers, or supple bare skin." How do you interpret this? A mostly human head with animal ears on top...

    D&D 5E Need help diversifying a hexblade

Due to how multiclassing works I would advise one or the other, not both. Ordinarily I would go Bard since hexblade's damage, armor proficiency and spells like shield dovetail nicely with their utility, but given that you already have a bard who is hobbled by limited spell selection, divine sorc...

    D&D 5E Need help diversifying a hexblade

What are your stats and what invocations do you have? It's a little hard to respond to this post without knowing more about the unusual restrictions of the homebrew setting. Under other circumstances, I would have advised only taking 2-3 levels of hexblade, with the rest being bard or...

D&D 5E Eldritch Knight+ MC wizard tank ideas?

What level are you starting at? Think about what you want to focus on. What is more important to you, defense or magic? Remember that no one character does everything, nor should they. Based on your stats you seem to want a high defense, high melee damage tank who can also cast some spells...

Subtle Spell or Twinned Spell Metamagic Spell Combos

Some DM's may not allow it, but Twin the Dragon Breath spell for yourself and your familiar. Even normal casting turns your familiar into an armed aircraft. Later on, twin Haste for two martial characters in your party.

D&D 5E Druid that fights in animal form

Fair points, I forgot where precisely it started to plateau. Not a whole lot of items for animal fighting I'm afraid. Bracers of Defense or Cloak of Protection maybe? Most DMs let magic items resize over time so as not to accidentally award gear a player can't use, but having it work in bear...

D&D 5E Druid that fights in animal form

Yes, moon druid is best for fighting while in wild shape. A high-level caster with the "Polymorph" spell can do something similar, but that has drawbacks. Yes, as a druid you should have your Wisdom as high as possible. Dexterity and Constitution are good for backup defense. Stats are less...

MC Knowledge Cleric + Lore Bard vs Kensei Bladesinger

Well you should feel free to play anything you think would be fun, and one-shots are good places to try a theorycrafted build, but from an optimization standpoint I honestly wouldn't recommend either one. Both builds are extremely MAD, and give up access to level 3 spells along with other...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

Would it work for a Gnome Battlesmith with the Mounted combatant feat to ride their Steel defender? Could they give the Defender a spell-storing item with Heroism or Warding bond, and have the Defender cast it on the Artificer at the beginning of combat?

    First Druid follow-up

The feat from variant human can be very nice (lucky or magic initiate to get a familiar for example) but there is nothing you truly need. The +2 CHA on half elf is mostly wasted but they have so many features it hardly matters. Of the three I might do wood Elf purely for roleplay reasons but I...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] The Sorlock – Guide to the tormented divine soul with Xanathar's Divine Soul(17)+Hexblade(3) [Updated 12/20/21]

The Hex spell description pretty clearly says it deals extra damage when you hit with an attack. The eldritch cannon is a separate entity and thus does not count, just like Hunters mark and the beast master ranger's pet. Its not terrible, but it is very MAD.

    D&D 5E 5e abjurer build. Warlock dip?

I recommend staying as a wizard unless you have a strong personal reason for doing otherwise. If you are concerned about defense I suggest taking the "Svirfneblin Magic" feat at level 4, using it to cast nondetection repeatedly between combats to refill your arcane ward.

    D&D 5E Guide: D&D (5e) How to Build a Fighter for Combat

This is an example build, not a guide. Guides go over an entire class and weigh the benefits and drawbacks of each option. You seem to have picked things you liked and presented them as if they were the objectively best option. I find it strange that you didn't recommend variant human when you...

D&D 5E Which magical secret would you take for AOE damage on a Bard?

Counterspell and Shield can be real lifesavers. As a bard you'll be throwing out a lot of control effects and buffs, which will paint a bit of a target on you.

Putting together an archery build, could use some advice

Sneak attack is limited to once per turn. Extra attack just gives you more opportunities for attacks to hit, and therefore for sneak attack to be activated, it does not let you use multiple sneak attacks.
