My house rule is healing potion drinking as an action gives maximum healing where as using a bonus action to drink it get’s you the dice roll. We also use the 5.5 healing spells (2d8 etc).

I don’t think any of my players think about builds. All but one have never multi classed dipped.

Nothing really changes for me. My books and PDFs are all I need.

I’m a forever DM and I have a constant internal monologue often making observations or narrating what I’m doing. When I was a kid I’d imagine I was always on TV (not really I just liked imagining it). I still kind of do it now (I’m 51) but not nearly as much. I also get assailed by images...

I only get my players to track magic or trick arrows.

I’m more than happy to use AI in my games to knock up some flavour text but if it’s a product I’m buying I want it to be made by a person. Not least so I know some of the money not just none of the money goes to a creator and not the shareholders.

Yeah but getting rid of level drain is one of the best things that ever happened to the game.

That’s exactly what I do. I find CR of about half the party level is a good base for an encounter but I dial it up of down by eye. I certainly don’t think about XP budgets or worry about anything more granular than damage output and AC. As long as a creature won’t drop a warrior type in two...

I dunno. I don’t really know the ins and outs of what my players can do and don’t have any issues balancing encounters.

Certainly applies to my players, sadly.

Yeah, I more or less agree with this. Having too much invested in the story coming out the way you want it is honing to make a rod for your own back. I take the view that arc encounters only really need to be about 20% of encounters.

My group are definitely not theatrical in that way. They seem to prefer a strong story that they can be part of, influence it’s outcomes and have laugh. But most of us are in our late 40s early 50s

I really enjoyed AvP and even have some love for AvP:R but A:R is a better film by far.
