I can say as someone who has tried to run EDH games in the past at medium-sized cons, I was surprised not to get anyone at a table to play at the last con. But calling people names also isn't a good look. 'numpty', 'doofus'. These are names in the last two pages of this thread alone...

I've run the system for friends, played a bit at Cons, and wrote a Kong: Skull Island adventure for a Con last year. Had a blast. Nice pulpy system and classes are distinctive and interesting in flavor and feel. I highly recommend the game. (I'm a filthy 3.5/Pathfinder 1e enjoyer, so YMMV)...

Anecdotally, I just played at my first 2nd edition table in 24 years at Origins, and man I couldn't wrap my head around THAC0 anymore. Funny how 24 years of training my brain in the other direction changed everything.

Some games you do, some you don't. If you wanted to play at a Greenwood/Gygax/Baker table, it was real money, otherwise it's between $0-$12 for a 3-4 hour slot, depending on who put on the event.

Indeed, and the fees worked for them I think. Last year, with no fee, there were more than a few tables I had where my friends just walked up to a table that I was playing at because two or more players didn't show up. This year, I saw very few empty seats both times I was in the room.
