Just because Rope Trick or Leaumonds can give you time to rest doesn't mean you'll complete one successfully. Just google "leaumonds tiny hut" and the 3rd result is Reddit talking how to counteract it.
If your looking to make the most out of bad options net users work surprisingly well with giant poison snake beastmaster. Throw a net from 10 ft away (take sharpshooter or be kobold to counteract disadvantage) and since the snake has range of 10ft can attack with advantage and not be in melee...
If you crit building see if you can get a party mate to cast Shadow Blade for you. Finesse weapon with 2d8 dmg die and expanded crit range in dim light can't be passed up.
Hexblade is probably best answer for crit-fishing. Can get advantage from either darkness combo or Find Familiar if tome.
Don't need fighter for expanded crit range either. Between Shadow Blade and curse you should have most combats covered.
Another good Shillelagh Cleric is Arcane. Take GFB or BB as your Wizard cantrips and Magic Initiate Druid for Shillelagh. After level 8 you'll be dealing 2xWis damage on each swing with Wis rider damage instead of Int.
Goading is good for range tanking. In an open battle you can shoot and retreat, leaving the enemy to attack allies with disadvantage or waste a turn dashing to reach you.
