D&D 4E My Proposed 4e House Rules (so far)

It's probably been pointed out already, but you don't sleep every 24 hours, you sleep APPROXIMATELY every 15 hours (assuming a good 9 hour's sleep). 24 would be overkill and would screw up your sleep schedule.

    D&D 4E Is 4E a 'Rules Light' Game?

Rules-Condensed. Uses a common mechanic for pretty much everything. Some people don't like this, but I love it. As much/more to do, less to memorize/learn.

Racial ability mods "Fix", Adding player choice

I will be using this interpretation of the house rule in my own game. Good idea everyone!

FIFY: Ranger Class Feature - TWF.

I believe nimble reaction is a pretty good tradeoff for small characters. That's pretty powerful for pretty much any class, especially strikers. I know I'll be using the weapon name-change as a house rule for my group.

    Make initiative a skill

Oh dang, I didn't realize that--how weird. My bad.

FIFY: Ranger Class Feature - TWF.

Please don't leave out this part: I'd be more in favor of taking a look at what you or your player wants and bartering with them. So your player wants a handaxe with the output of a longsword? How about they simply take all the stats and features of the longsword and call it a handaxe? Because...

    Make initiative a skill

    To bold: Quick Draw.

FIFY: Ranger Class Feature - TWF.

I still say the second feat is unbalancing. You're up to a +1 and two size increases when you also include the feat already in the PHB. Sure, Bastard Sword Proficiency is about equal to this... But, this means that small characters (halflings) can have the same damage output as normal sized...

FIFY: Ranger Class Feature - TWF.

TWF Feature: Is this for flavor? I'm all for flavor increasing the damage of a weapon, but I'd still consider it unbalancing. TWM Feat: well, TWF Feat already does that, on average, so this is a third increase in weapon performance. I'm sure it will be released in a splat later, but is there...

How can we add non-combat crunch without mangling the rules?

Honestly, I've read this sort of post on many forums and I can't say that I "get" it. I'm a self-proclaimed "slayer" sort of player, but that's mostly a product of my group. I LOVE how everyone gets to excel In AND Out of combat. So you want to sacrifice your usefulness in a very...

D&D 4E Heavy Concrete Data on 4e's Skill Challenge System (long, lots of tables)

Please correct me if I'm wrong. What I gleaned from this was that DC's with less than 50% chance of success contribute to massive amounts of party failure while DC's with greater than a 50% chance of success give a reasonable chance of success. So if a DM wanted to create his own skill...

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

I'm sorry if this has been pointed out already: The footnote you mention (the +5) is for skill CHECKS, not skill CHALLENGES. The DMG notes that checks and challenges are very different. My interpretation will be that +5 is only for singular checks. I don't feel like doing the math, but this...
