The Roles are really neat and work mechanically how Backgrounds should work. They scale up by tier and continually give neat little abilities that help define the character but aren't terribly powerful. Great work.
Starfinder does have all the same problems/benefits of Pathfinder, which is too bad. Their background system is pretty neat. It seems about 25% of your power comes from your background. This is probably generous, but it does seem backgrounds in Pathfinder are more powerful than their 5e...
Bought this and am reading through it. Excellent idea and excellent execution. Many of the adventures deal with consequences of decisions-- sometimes from decisions made in the past, sometimes decisions made by the PCs. It is great to see the boundaries of what RPGs can do expanded. Cannot...
First, let me say that I am a fan of Chris Perkins and his adventures. From "Wards of Witching Ways" to "Storm King's Thunder," I really like his ideas and design.
That said, I kind of find WotC adventures hard to run because they are so wordy and convey information via a narrative in...
"Cleopatra is one of the best-known women in history, famed for her supposed beauty and intellect..."
I mean, I would have probably spent more on her INT and CHA stats instead of feats, but YMMV.
Great first paper, bring them on! They are fantastic! This is one of the best Philosophy 100 papers I've had to grade. Excellent examples of straw man arguments. It is refreshing to see someone really understand the "Write a fallacious argument using one of the 12 logical fallacies we...
I've played a paladin warlock and a paladin bard, and I've played with several paladin warlocks and one paladin sorcerer. What I meant by "abuses I've seen on the boards," was an imprecise way of saying all of the "abuses" that are possible with CHA-based multiclassing, seen from firsthand...
I'm late to this thread and most of this has been rehashed so YMMV, I am just saying what I and the players I play with would like.
I am DMing a game where I didn't allow multiclassing and feats. It worked out really well and I made sure the players got magic items, magical runes (think Dragon...
And Madness Followed is a Mythos-inspired adventure that takes place in a theater, Dungeon 134
The Sixfold Trial from the Pathfinder Council of Thieves adventure path has the characters actually *IN* a play.
Interesting that Storm King's Thunder (my favorite of the adventures, all of which I've played other than Princes) is ranked second only to Tomb of Annihilation at RPG Geek. Yet on this list it is ranked lowest except for Hoard of the Dragon Queen....
I think that's why many of the 5e books (other than adventures, of course) have a dual DM/Player benefit. Volo's Guide, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and now Xanathar's Guide to Everything all have content for everyone at the table.
OH, I get that the symbols are equivalent. But if you haven't played SWRPG but are using the SWRPG dice with Genesys, you'll have to do a translation in your head every time.
I ran the SWRPG starter boxes for several groups, and the problem they had was which dice to use and the symbols...
Custom Dice, Again?
Ugg, I get that they don't want to use Star Wars symbols, but could they at least have made them similar so that we didn't have to buy dice again?
