By the sounds of things. They may be shifting the focus a little to encompass the whole Lord of the Rings rather than just that "Hobbit" thematic feel. Either way its apparantly backwards compatible. So I'm not expecting too many changes. It's nice to have all the cultures in one book though.

Some people liked the idea of a fresh start where they could do what they wanted with the realms without infringing on canon. Personally, I still run 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition era, and sometimes even further back so I'm not part of that camp... but there was an interest in such a realms.

It just goes to show that there is a massive market for D&D supplements. The one supplement a year model WOTC puts out is just wasted opportunity. If a 3rd party product like Strongholds is raising over 1 million. Imagine how much WoTC could of made. Just maybe, MAYBE, allot of gamers out...
