    Printing PDFs in Bound Books

My solution was to learn how to bind my own books. It's not particularly hard. The biggest limitation it having access to a printer the right size. A3 for a A4 book.

D&D General Forgotten Realms Books Tables of Contents

There is an assumption here that someone already has those books. It seems a bit over the top to buy a complete hard cover adventure just for the gazetteer at the beginning. I would expect a setting book to cover the entire region including bits that setting already published before. Much the...

D&D General Gameholecon Wardens OP allows PCs from variant 5e D&D systems

From my experience with 2024 and 2014, there are only a small amount of rules that shared with the table and are different between systems. For example, inspiration and stealth/surprise. Most rules are either individual player-facing or gm-facing rules. I DM more than I play, so I'm not as...

What are you reading in 2025?

I bounced off it too. I guess I was hoping it was going to get better when I read the second book. It was very much not Pratchett. It seemed to have an American New World vibe to it which I find annoying.

Tell me about your experiences running games at a FLGS

It has changed over the years. The first campaign I ran was Goodman Games's In to the Borderlands ending in a TPK. The players were relatively constant. I would usually have a core set of players who would be there from session to session. Over the years, the store wanted to ensure new players...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I run Friday night tables at a LFGS. I am lucky to get the same players 2 weeks in a row.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I'm doing mostly one-shots at the moment. Real-time is very important to me.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I assume that the scene includes more that just the combat itself (on average).

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

As with anything, it varies, but I would say around 3-4 rounds per encounter. I DM at a FLGS, so player skill is probably different.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

10 minute combats seem very quick to me. @SlyFlourish estimates 45 minutes per scene (Scenes – The Catch-all Step of the Lazy Dungeon Master). That seems more realistic. Obviously, it changes depending on character level, number of players, player familiarity with their abilities, encounter...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I would prefer the assumptions were that one adventuring day can be completed in 3 hours including all 3 pillars.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

Gibson said, "Science fiction’s always been about the present. It’s seldom really about the future. It’s just a way of talking about the present in a way that otherwise might be difficult." So, in a sense, CyberPunk was 'real' in the 80's.

D&D 5E (2024) Teos talks about using the hero’s of the Borderlands Starter Box to run games.

@Alphastream, how long did it take for new players the create a character using the starter box?

D&D General Take A Look At The Class Boards From The New D&D Starter Set

I would point out that the Lost Mines pre-gens didn't have much room to write abilities. Take the dwarven cleric as an example. There is no place to write their prepared spells. The fact they have to choose spells is hidden in the small print. While the play mats should make that a lot easier...
