The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

Here is the official link to the rules update: http://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6sgaz?Forging-the-Heroes-of-Undarin As for the language I would guess there will be better formatting and such. But I expect keywords to stay so things that plagued PF1 with A acting like B but not B don’t...

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

Aldarc this might interest you. (And others too) http://paizo.com/threads/rzs42b9l?Ancestries-are-getting-overhauled-in-14-says Ancestry getting some changes. More explicitly they’re removing the tax for being a half elf or half orc which I think is a complaint you were having.

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

Well of course they’re not going to diverge that much from feat customization being how you drive your character. It was so in PF1 and they’re not going to remove that. Now sure they could simplify things a bit and it sound like they will do that with ancestry feats from their streams. But I am...

    [PF2] Big rules update incoming

Well yeah if he rolls a bunch of natural 20s thats the breaks. It's also why I do my dice rolls publicly. I think it feels more fair to the players that way. But yes the new rules makes it that first attacks on boss type monsters are much more likely to crit.

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

I agree it’s not inspiring. At level 11 the paladin in our group gets +3 from it. Which isn’t huge of course but then again there is almost no damage bonuses in the game. Barbarian is really the only class to get a decent static bonus with rage. So so in the context of that getting +3 on all...

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

Blade of Justice change is actually decently strong change for a tanking build. I don't think Paladins really have a power problem more so than some of their options are just a bit uninspiring. I really don't like the righteous ally feat chain that just gives them enchants. Not because getting...

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

Because of how they're doing half orc and half human ancestry feats? That's an odd line to draw. In 1e those were explicitly tied to being half human (and similarly got all the human racial trait options) as well. It's basically the same thing but better. That's because them templating it this...

    [PF2] Big rules update incoming

You must have had really bad luck with rolls. So yeah first hit the Manticore can crit on 15-20 (or 16 on the monk) but second hit he has to hit a natural 20 to crit either. Same for the third of he takes one. So you had multiple rounds where the DM rolled a 15+ on first roll and then a 20? Well...

    [PF2] Big rules update incoming

Well I think a big shelf thing at 5th level is that is when you get your first stat increases. So since that means everyone would get likely 1 more AC from dex at that level and thus would catch up more than just their level progression. Looking at the level 4 characters I pregenerated for when...

    [PF2] Big rules update incoming

But mundane healing between fights likely means you go into that fight with more health as well. Still that is a pretty tough fight with a level 6 monster against a level 4 party. In my home game we had a level 11 party versus a level 13 monster but the far greater hps at that level made it not...

    [PF2] Big rules update incoming

Yeah I like the focus idea. Don’t penalize people or take away their ability to use potions, instead give a big buff for using them. I’d guess this would scale better with higher level effects. I also like that Jason said for treat wounds that it’s 10 minutes for the group, not ten minutes for...

    [PF2] Big rules update incoming

Some details spoiled here. This should appease some of the people who claimed that no rules updates were coming. I like the clarification on shields, the proficiency for untrained and especially the changes on death/healing. Resonance just being a cap on Christmas tree similar to attunement in...

[PF2] Game Session Experiences (Playtest or Homebrew)

On the matter of CLW organized play is a thing and I'm sure they got plenty of feedback over the years that the first thing players were supposed to buy was the CLW wand. Sure you or I can decide to ban it in our personal games (and I did already back when my campaign was PF1) but that doesn't...

[PF2] Game Session Experiences (Playtest or Homebrew)

Just wanted to make a thread for people who are playing or DM'ing in PF2 (whether Playtest or homebrew campaign) to post their thoughts on things as well as info from their session experiences. For me I'm DM'ing a PF2 game that we switched over from PF1. Currently the players are level 11. We...

    PF2 Playtest: 10 Things I Like

We’re having our first level 11 session tonight. The two sessions we had before were at level four with premade characters. Hopefully after this have a better sense of what to write here other than the obvious things PF2 has in improvements such as: 1. 3 action economy 2. Tighter math 3...

Pathfinder 2E biggest issue with PF2 playtest

Back ten years ago with the original PF playtest there were a lot of experimental rules that didn’t make it into the final game. I don’t think claims that what’s in the playtest is set in stone have any validity given historical evidence.

Pathfinder 2E biggest issue with PF2 playtest

I don't really think the +hit issue with martials is that big an issue. Circumstance and conditional bonuses become much more important to get you to that auto hit values and I think CRs for enemies will likely be a bit lower than they were in PF1. (in your example CR7 is likely as hard as a CR8...

Pathfinder 2E biggest issue with PF2 playtest

That just makes it that the few buffs and flanking are a lot more important than it used to be. PF1 started yes 10-20% higher but then buffs took most physical attackers into auto hit territory, even on iterative attacks. The new system needs situational buffs to get enemies into that 70% range...

Pathfinder 2E biggest issue with PF2 playtest

Pathfinder Beta ten years ago was like this too. Plenty of things that didn’t make the final product. Obviously the internet has changed over the last ten years and there is a possibility that people will forever be turned off by playtest rules that don’t make the final product. That being said...
