TSR Why would anyone want to play 1e?

I don't really get how ascending AC would make a product unusable with previous materials since it's just a math equation. I mean plenty of OSR material allows for using both ascending and descending AC. TSR could have done the same without sacrificing compatibility.

D&D 5E Have you seen "Squished Leveling" in DND?

I recently reworked 5E to 10 levels with no multi-classing. Level 1 is basically 5E level 3. Level 2 is 5E level 4. After that each level is 2 5E levels. XP for level 2 is the XP for 5E 4th. Each level after is the 5E even level so level 3 is 5E 6th level XP. I made the spell levels equal class...

TSR Why would anyone want to play 1e?

The reason you see more 1E or BX in the OSR than 2E could just come down to the fact that those two were what was played when it was in the boom era per sales data. So more players from those editions all other things being equal.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

That Facebook post was "You need more reason to boycott? Hold my beer!"

What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

At a minimum I want some way to represent mental. physical, and social abilities and a dice mechanic that can be used to resolve actions related to those abilities.

5 years after the previous update JG has posted this on the unfulfilled CSIO Kickstarter.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

@robertsconley (Bat in the Attic games) is working on his Majestic Fantasy Realms which hopefully will be available later this year. https://batintheattic.blogspot.com/2025/03/wandering-through-majestic-fantasy.html?m=1

    D&D 1E OSRIC 3 Crowdfund has Launched!

Disappointed that he is basing it off of material using a Creative Commons license but won't himself release things with a Creative Commons license. Due to that, looks like a pass from me.

D&D (2024) OAR 10 City State of the Invincible Overlord

I hope they bought out the catalog from Judges Guild. I backed the CSIO Kickstarter which was never delivered and then the family bigotry came to light.

D&D 5E Hypothetical: WotC goes under and Hasbro vaults D&D. Now What?

I think Paizo would publish Pathfinder 3rd Edition which would be 5e CC SRD based.

D&D (2024) Some Terms Removed From 2024 SRD... But Is 'D&D' Really Supposed To Be In There?

I agree with it being a fair use situation. Here is a site that explains it in non-legal language for lay people. https://www.inta.org/fact-sheets/fair-use-of-trademarks-intended-for-a-non-legal-audience/

Wow, just had a quick page thru and it looks really nice!

    D&D General 1e feel for 5E

For 1E just create Magic Dart and Magic Dagger as at will spells. Same rate of fire, damage, and range with a to hit roll. Keeps the same power level for a magic-user and has more wizard flavor than throwing mundane weapons.

Do All of Your RPG Maps Now Belong To Judges Guild? ... and more?

It's worse than that. It was supposed to be delivered to backers in 2014. Over $80,000 and they just absconded with the money.

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

@Alzrius I think you're on an island by yourself in your argument because the rest of us don't believe it to be something that will ever be a reality. I mean, sure anyone can sue anyone for anything in the U.S., but it doesn't take very much legal acumen to rebut the level of idiocy that would...

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

I do want to say thanks to @Morrus for releasing things under under the Creative Commons, the Open Game License, and the Open RPG Creator (ORC) license.

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

The 3rd edition OGL SRD to Creative Commons should be fast to do though. I think if that gets released people will be more patient on the other editions since they don't already have an SRD.
