Chaosium Names New CEO, Mike Mearls Departs Company

Yes but, correct me if I'm wrong, all of Fantasy Flight's RPG products are now under Edge Studio so it is one or two subsidiaries down from Asmodee itself.

Chaosium Names New CEO, Mike Mearls Departs Company

I'm wondering that as well since they don't do RPGs directly. Color me intrigued.

TSR I need assistance finding a possibly imaginary box set

This was the first D&D product I ever received and was my first exposure to D&D. Played that for several years before stumbling upon the D&D 3rd Edition Player's Handbook. This set holds a lot of nostalgia for me and I snapped it up quickly when they finally released it on DriveThruRPG.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

I think it's that and also a little bit of "I don't think it's as problematic as people are making it out to be," at least that's what I get from the previous "building bridges" remarks.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

I think a medieval fantasy version of My Hero Academia would be neat. Perhaps there is a larger, adventurers guild kind of organization that spans across multiple countries or continents. The party first has to become accredited guild members and then they go off on adventures solving all...

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Well, I was thinking of actual watching their previous campaigns. I’ve listened to, maybe a quarter of Campaign 2 and 3.

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Oh, is that session zero on Beacon? That might push me to subscribe.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

Yes, that's been reported in this thread somewhere. Like I said earlier, I have doubt that they didn't have these plans, and I think the additional plans with JG only turned to "no plans" due to the backlash they have received since the outset.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

I believe you also quoted me, in which I clarified in a later post that we have directly caught GG going back on their word and lying. I even said that I don’t fully believe either one. That’s certainly not doing what you are presenting.

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Right. I suppose that's what I was getting at with "narratively complex" as according to the narrative (using your example) the canyon climber would be able to scale a normal wall with ease. I think we are in agreement, right?

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

Completely possible Bledsaw is lying. However, GG appears to really be trying to push this book even after the backlash, so I would not be surprised if at least half of what Bledsaw is saying is true. I think GG had a lot of plans, but they were disrupted by the negative reception that this...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

To me, I feel like what you are missing is that based on Bloodsew's post, GG was going to be working with him on a lot more than they led people to believe since this all began. I can't trust what GG says at this point, because it definitely seems to be like they just got caught with their pants...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

Basic Fantasy is a pretty good way to experience the OSR style of play. It's also easy on the pocketbook. I don't feel like I can trust either at this point. Regardless, as I have said elsewhere GG wanting to work with JG and "build bridges" sinks them in my book anyway.

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

My understanding is that rolls are only made for narratively complex actions. So, no need to make a check to ride your horse well, but if you are trying to ride your horse well while running from pursuers during a rainstorm then a check is probably going to be called for.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

Not surprised by this statement at all. Bigotry disguised as patriotism. If this doesn't convince the fence-sitters that they shouldn't back this project then I'm not sure what else could.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Oh, niiice! Thanks for pointing that out, Reynard.

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

I enjoy it purely as a vehicle to play AD&D games. But I agree, Daggerheart seems like it was designed for my style of play.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

I am looking at how to get my hands on a copy. I really like what I see and this game might push me to run/play in a game for the first time in over a decade.

How Long Do You Wait Before You Houserule a New TTRPG?

I tend to wait until the end of a campaign. I think I only really have the full view of the game rules and the how and why of their design once I have seen them in action accross a decent amount of playtime. The only exception is if it's a rule that the group REALLY feels is hampering our...
