Crows, James Introcasos MCDM Dungeon Crawler RPG

This feels like chasing the market if the market was a couple years ago, dungeon crawlers are waning right now as we’ve had quite a glut of them the last 10 years or so. MCDM looks like a company thats building a business model on stringing along kickstarters hope it works out for them.

Dungeon Crawl Classics What is cool to you from a player perspective?

I found nothing worth while in DCC that hasn’t been done better by other games like shadowdark. Funnels are the worst idea to come out of the OSR crowd, magical mishaps pull me right out of any kind of immersion as who would study magic (how do any apprentices survive more than a week?), and any...

    The Entire TTRPG Hobby Post-Mortem

I have been wrestling with many of the same issues. I no longer have a group and have been running games for my kids for a couple years but even that seems to be to much work and of no pleasure. Everything runs its course and knowing when to call it is tough. Safe travels friend I hope you can...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

The original APs were japanese write ups circulated in zines and some full blown gaming magizines. Hell the anime Record of Lodoss war is an AP in its own right. AP as a term popped up in the 90s but until acquisitions Incorporated started publishing audio, cut some podcasts and eventually...

    Battletech RPG

We used classic traveller to run some battletech games after the limitation of mechwarrior 1e became apparent. Traveller IMHO just runs scifi well regardless of IP, we also ran a startrek game with classic that was great. The combat system is dangerous enough to fit the setting and skills are...

Why do you play games other than D&D?

I honestly just like games that are better at reflecting some realism and represent the genre I want better than dnd. The mechanics on DnD are a massive turn off for me, I don’t like AC, Class and level, and prefer something more interesting than HP.

    Dragonbane general thread [+]

the Goblin Worg rider was the instant wake up call that this wasn't DnD. It took one PC to zero HP in a single attack and almost took down a second before the knight managed a solid hit putting the work down. I think that first encounter really set the tone for how combat was going to be and the...

    Battletech RPG

I would love a traveller rules set made specifically for Btech, the only real change I would make is switching die mods to TN mods and base skill as TN, and wah la now it's virtually the same system. Skills start at A (ten for you non travelers out there) and each skill improvement reduces it...

    Why do we need thieves??

The simplest answer to this question is because games that don’t have skills and use class and level for everything have to have specialized classes to represent things that could’ve simply been represented by skills in. Class based games are driven by tropes (classes are tropes) the brave...

    Battletech RPG

I played Mac Warrior first edition, but the rules never really stuck with my players so we switched over to using classic traveler which also uses a 2D6 resolution mechanic that is extremely similar to BattleTech resolution system. I own every edition of the role-playing game produced all the...

    What was your 2nd RPG?

I went through three role-play games and rather quick succession. We started with dungeons of dragons, a mashup of BX, BECMI, and ADND second edition (it was elementary school. None of us really knew what we were doing) which was replaced after four months by star frontiers because we were all...

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

Nothing because I would never run a 60 session campaign. Longest campaign I ever ran was ~15 sessions and that was Teenage mutant ninja turtles and other strangeness. Next longest was Mega traveller or Cyberpunk 2020 but they were 5-6 sessions. My group never went in for long campaigns because...

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

So far I am pretty unimpressed with the whole playtest so far, none of these changes seem to be aimed to simplify the game as was claimed. These changes all look like minor pet peeves from some of the battletech forum and discord mods instead of any kind of meaningful simplifications.

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

Got to play a couple of small games with the new rules and they were…meh🤷. So the set up is that my group largely plays 3025 tech and prefer classic mechs. That said we also have used forced withdrawl rules as a standard. We had one ammo explosion on an already heavily damaged medium so the 20...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Now thats some good data! Interesting that he went all the trouble to get the numbers concealed at Amazon in the US but then not in Canada I wonder if the others non US Amazons have sales ranks still?

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

WOTC removing their products from amazon sales data is hiding it, Darrington is just not saying anything which hurts the newcomer to the market

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

I think in this situation, concealing sales of their core product are just slowing down third-party publishers from supporting it. It feels like Daggerheart is popular. It feels like it is selling a lot. The numbers from the places we can get them like Amazon and drive-through look really good...
